Does this look funny to anyone?

I know HSV did a stroker based on the old holden 304 block with a Harrop crank on the later models, though these were only available on the "Senator" and GTS-R models. Not the base clubsport and certainly not on the SS, unless this went somewhere for a custom fit engine. Ive asked the bloke selling it for more information as it could be an interesting rarity, though Im sure I saw it advertised elsewhere as an HSV so perhaps some confusion reigns.

The car comes up in the database as a VS series II SS built in July 1996.
It wouldn't have been built as a 5.7 litre. As only the HSV GTS and a few Senator/Grange/Caprices came out with it. I would speculate it has had a 5.7 litre put into it as you can stroke them pretty easily. What it also might have had is a 5.7 litre HSV engine put in there at a later date.(maybe a VT motor) It would be very similar to the VT GTS engine.
On the other hand, it could also be a HSV enhanced SS which were available. (doubtful as it doesn't come up in the database) They came with a 185kw 5.0 litre engine. They were Holdens not HSV's but had a little HSV badge on the back with a 185i sticker. This engine was the same as the VS clubsport engine. The engine would then have been stroked to 5.7 aftermarket as well.
The wheels on that picture are not original, look like 17's or 18's ROH wheels. Original car came with 16's.
Looks like your countryside in the pictures not Oz!!!!!

There has been trouble in OZ with scammers taking peoples pictures and selling their cars and then asking people to pay for it in a dodgy way, usually transfering money overseas. Most of the time they were easy to pick as they were way underpriced and had inflated specs, some of which knowledgeable people would know never existed on the car.

Car seems genuine....I have seen it at a meet...

It's definitely a iron block 5.0, (I've seen it) but whether it has been stroked is anyones guess.

Its badged as HSV Enhanced on rear and also on the passenger glovebox.

See these threads for a realplayer streaming video of the car....sounds good

Yep, I've seen that car think it was at the Ace Cafe in January. I'm sure it was advertised on Pistonheads some months ago as well.

At a guess id say its probably just a standard 5.0 engine, not a stroker.
The reason being is that the seller has quoted the engine size as 5665cc (346ci), which is the 5.7 GEN III capacity, not the HSV 5.7, which was 5737cc (355ci).
Me thinks the owner doesnt really know much about these cars, and thought that because the current engines are 5.7, this one is probably also, but doesnt know the difference between the Chev and the Holden engines.
It well may be HSV enhanced, but all that meant was a slight tweek of the PCM, knock sensors, CAI, and a better exhaust. The engine itself was not touched, and remained at 5.0lt (304ci).
