Log Books and Hand Book etc
Discussion
Hi Guys (and gals)
I've just bought a 968 CS (in Scottster yellow) but alas it came with no log book (no service history
) and no hand book....Does anyone know if it is possbile to buy a replacement set as I would quite like to start "building" a service history. It did come with the V5, and I checked with the DVLA and HPI and it's all above deck.
Cheers,
David

Thanks for the hint, I've emailed Lancaster Cambridge to see what they can do.
Are there any "from factory" issues with the 968's? I heard someone mention something about to many shims in the gearbox causeing the pinion bearings to go quick? Anything else I should keep an eye on?
Cheers,
David

This months GT purely Porsche (something like that)magazine has a buying guide feature on the 968 and seems to concentrate on CS..Worth a read, mentions gearbox issue and also engine timing sprocket problem,,sounds a little scary.jusy means get it checked by someone who knows them before you part with any money.
Thanks for the info, I'll try and track down a copy. Before I bought the car I had the local Porsche dealer (Lancaster Cambridge) do a "pre-sale" inspection and they threw up a few points, nothing so major. The car is pretty cheap so I don't mind sinking some cash into it to bring it up to scratch.
And I have just heard from Lancaster that a new owners handbook will cost 15 and the service book a tenner, not so bad at all - thanks for the info Melv
