Silly question but have you changed the battery?

(I mean the battery in the remote, not the car!)

no its not the battery(of the remote! )
but maybe something wrong with the alarm also
because when i start the car with the electronic contact key(which i have been doing for a lont time now) the alarm doesnt sound (it says in the owners handbook that it has to sound for 30 secs...
any ideas?

Eh? If you mean the doofah that goes in the little slot near the ignition key, the alarm should *not* sound! That's what it's for - disarming the alarm and immobiliser so you can start the car. I think you'll have to wait until someone with more knowledge than me reads this post! Sorry!

it says if you start the car using the small contact key to disarm the immobiliser .BUT the alarm will sound for 30 secs.
thats what writes in the users manual...
....lets wait for others.....

Put the key in the ignition, turn the ignition on but don't start the car. Press the button on your key fob, the immobiliser should switch off, start the car.
The contact thingy is magnetic not electric.
30 seconds is a long time...

chima - this could well be a malfunctioning/worn door striker. Make sure the rubber pads on the doors are fully depressing the striker on the sills - check with your interior light - seeing if it comes on when it should. The doors can in fact be closed, but the car thinks they're open & won't set the alarm. Just a thought; it's a common problem Tant.
