Now, first I must apologise in case this is getting above anyone's head. I have no desire to start a thread to rival joust's uber-geek posting on file sizes!!!!!

I've just learnt that it is possible to add keywords and other information to the metatag (if that's the right term) in Photoshop. Apparently if you are uploading photos this info can be automatically extracted by some sites (good if you want keywords - not so good if you don't want your camera serial number and any other notes known!). All well and good.

In PS 6 I have just found that this data is under File>file info... But it actually doesn't have the EXIF data. In fact I downloaded a free programme from somewhere else on the Interwebbie to read EXIF data, come to think of it.

My question is: does the latest/later version of PS have a different way of handling EXIF and other data alongside a file? Are there controls to autmatically set what data is retained with a file; is it somewhere else other than "file info"?

In CS2 when you go to file>info the window that opens shows the description, title, keywords etc, if you look on the left hand side of the window that has opened it has camera data 1 camera data 2 these sections show the exif details. However some programes can strip the exif details out of the file when they are saved.

Nikon RAW also tucks WB and flash data somewhere else I believe, in thinly-disguised attempt to make you buy Nikon Capture.

Just looked at the exif information in my dynamic image thread. I used the RAW convertor in Photoshop CS2 and saved normally as a .psd not thinking about exif information. I tried to delete the shutter speed as a test but doesn't look like I was able to do that as the info seems to have stayed in there somewhere when I did a Save As... for the .jpg

File>File Info>Advanced>Exif Info = Full Exif. (At least in CS is does)
