Boxster Transaxle

It has been suggested to me that rather than use the g50 in my GTR Ultima that I should use a boxster 6 sp transaxle instead. I have called the factory but really come out none the wiser.
Has anyone used this transaxle?
I'm not planning on running a huge engine - most likely a lexus quad cam or a M62 BMW V8.
The Boxster transaxle is priced right and comes with the cable shifter setup and the whole setup is made by Getrag.
Any inputs from the more experienced would be appreciated

Do you know how much a second hand m62 goes for?

the boxter box you are talking about is the one in the 'S' ie the 3.2 6speed model... the other boxters use a 5 speed and are not as nice a gear change.
The 'S' box is the correct way around, however I believe its not anywere near as strong as the 911 box's... you will also have to sort your own adapter plate, clutch, starter etc.... not sure about the drive shafts.

If you were to do this it would be worth considering also using the engine as its quite a sweet unit thats already packaged to run cool in a mid engined car.... you can also get turbos kits for them.

There was a guy in Holland selling an e39 M5 engine (S62 from memory?) for 12k. This had 400 bhp. You can buy an M60 4.0 for peanuts these days and an M62 4.4 for a little more. Breakers would want from 200-1500 depending on condition, mileage, ancillaries etc.
