I've put this up in The P&P rather than on BT&P as there are a lot of people who have given so genrously but weren't all there on the night.

All I can say is that I fealt and still feel truely humbled by being awarded this years trophy. I was very much caught on the hop on the night and can honestly say it was totally unexpected and unlike the Oscars I hadn't been tipped off or warned in advance. As such the words I said off the cuff didn't truely reflect all what I wanted to say to all of you.

There are a lot of other people who have put in a lot of leg work to make the event happen who deserve to be acknowledged, Chim Girl who really drove it forward and made it happen, Podie for setting up the www.justgiving.com/melsbtap donations website, Rude Girl who gave support and encouragement, Ted for providing the event and medium to allow this to happen, and of course the poor Lucy who actually did the job

But most of all the thanks and praise should be heaped upon PistonHeads as a community, you are the people who gave so much money and whos spirit truely reflects what was done. I doubt there is anybody on here whos life hasn't been touched by cancer in some way or another, and it is to you people we should all be greatfull. As I said on the night the pain I went through is nothing, I can not even start to imagine the pain and suffering that cancer suffers and their loved ones go through, for people to lose a life, a breast, a testicle, any other body part or a loved one is a massice trauma. These people are the true heros and that means almost all of us at some time in our lives. Hopefully by providing a focus and a platform for giving, myself and the others have helped in such a very small way to get rid of this disease one day.

Originally when the idea came about I was more than happy to inflict a short burst of pain on my lower body for a rather modest sum of money for a good cause. I can honestly say I have been continuestly shocked by the way the running total has grown and I am truely touched by all of your generousity.

Ladies and Gentleman to all of you who have donated, helped organise or even just added to the banter and humour that is this community I salute you and say a very sincere thank you.

Oh yes and we're only just over 100 quid short of 2 grand lets just break that final landmark sum

Cheers

Mel

NO. That's it. Don't expect a repeat or an attempt to supass the event next year (well not by me anyway) If someone else wants to do something equally stupid next year then good luck to them but I'll be putting my hand in my pocket rather than my balls on the block.

It's an errrr "interesting" experience and sensation, Not sure "enjoying" would be the correct description but its certainly "different" and "slippery" and oh yes a little cold today in work trousers.

The really fun part from what I've been told will be in 3-4 weeks time when I can expect ingrowing hairs and pussie spots unless I use the exfoliating stuff and moisturiser that the beauty spa gave me.

Mel, that's the second time this weekend that you've choked me up.

Anyway, I told my Mum about your exploits on the phone last night. When she'd stopped laughing, she said that she'd sold some DVDs that belonged to my late Dad last week, and wants me to give the proceeds to you. It's not much, but I think he'd approve.

Far too much information...

On a more serious note mate, well done I'm proud to be a mate of someone who is prepared to go that far. despite my protests on Saturday morning when it looked like you might not make it,I would have stood in for you if I'd had to. I would have been far more of a wuss though and the whole hotel would have been silenced by my screams!!!

Top man.

Another £20 on the way, lost my grandma to cancer just after my son was born.

Well done. I get waxed regularly and the backs of my legs still make me wince, brave man.

Mel, I only managed to exchange brief pleasantries with you on the night, so I dont really know you. But I do know enough to know that the PH'er of the year award is well deserved.

What a great night and a great cause. Well done to everyone, we can all be very proud of our community. Ted must be chuffed to bits. And to think, it's just a bunch of nutters off the internet
