bloody door switches

I am having problems with my 95 Griff 500. I have searched similar threads but not seen anything that helps my problem. As I attempt to activate my alarm I get a second beep and the door locks disengage. I first of all cleaned both door switch contacts. During cleaning I observed that the plungers were in good condition and also that they need only a small (1mm) amount of displacement to break electrical contact so I was unconvinced that my problem would be solved by simply adding a small spacer to the existing door rubber button. As an experiment I manually pushed the plungers fully home some 8 or so mm flush with the mounting plate i.e they could not go back any further. I noticed that on the passenger side I could hear (I assume) the door solenoid clicking but the same test on the drivers side made no such noise, so I guess there is some other fault, any ideas please before I do something I might regret.

Problem sorted. I stopped trying to analyse the problem and went with blind faith instead by sticking a velcro pad on both rubber buttons already attached to doors (as I had read in other threads but ruled out as not being relevant, god knows why). This has amazingly cured the problem, I'm a happy bunny again.
