It was a turbo bodied 3.2 basically, usually a targa, better off with a straight 3.2 which is actually faster as it has less drag.

Dont forget the 3.2 SSE (Supersport) also had the Turbo, spoilers, wheels, brakes and suspension.

Is it what's unfairly referred to as a 'stockbroker' edition! ? (For those new 911 buyers who wanted to look like they have the turbo?). I'm not being rude here it's actually a great looking car.

It seems this red exterior/interior combo was popular in the '80s.

Whoever owns that car, it would be really cool to have this 190E 'carat' model as a good companion for it..

we had an original one off carat deuchatelet 190 in the early 80's. Was actually a great looking car but a bit all show no go.

I've driven some great roads in convoy with "super streamlined" straight 3.2s and don't recall having any trouble keeping up, or holding any others up for that matter.

But then you might see from my profile that I am equally biased!

Well maybe true, when I was looking for mine I was advised by those that know on Ph to avoid the supersport as the extra stuff was not worth it.

In reality I guess it comes down to personal preference, I certainly love my car as it is.

Absolutely, it's all down to personal choice and my comment was very tongue in cheek.

Personally, I wanted a Targa and I happen to think that they look much better with the Supersport body, hence my choice.

The good news is we're both really happy with the choices we made, and in the end, that's what matters. They are fabulous cars in all their various guises.

Each to his own...

I had an `87 Supersport Coupe and when you get out of a standard 3.2 and into the SSE it feels sooo much more planted on the road. That Turbo chassis is just so much more rigid, who cares if its a few mph slower at the top end when it looks as good as that...Enjoy!
