Clutch ?

Hi everyone I bought a 99v Speed Six about 4months ago from a guy up in london. I live down in South Wales, had the car about 6 weeks until the head gasket blew had that repaired at tvr power had it back about 4 weeks and now i found a new problem when i apply the slightest pressure on the clutch i get a little squeal like you get on a fan belt only slight and for a second then it goes does this mean my clutch is also buggered or is it something else it has only started in the last 4 days since we have had all this crap weather. Hope someone can help cheers

tbh, it sounds like a little bit of clutch drag. Nothing too serious (mine's been doing if for 5k miles) but I don't know why it would suddenly start out of the blue so your are probably best off getting it to an indy to listen to it. hth.

Sounds like your release bearing to me. Shouldnt be too much of a problem just make sure that it gets changed when your clutch goes.

Cheers guys for the replys , Is there anywere i can find out what the oil pressure should be on the engine it is about 29psi at 70mph and stays there pretty constant unless i slow down, there isnt a problem but i have no idea what it should and shouldnt be and the manual is pretty vauge.

that looks low - the tuscan forum debates this. Think at idle itcan be very low but at revs should be 40 ish?

In Tuscan handbook (version 2 year 2000) it says oil pressure should be at least 35 PSI at 2000 RPM. Mine is closer to 60 PSI at this engine speed & reduces to about 20 PSI at a warm idle speed of 800 RPM. It's possibly a problem with the oil pressure sensor as thre has been quiet a few problems with these giving different readings and leaking.

Thanks for the help, When i first start the car in the morning the gauge goes to about 60psi then comes down as the car warms until it reaches a constant does this still sound like a sensor problem and if so could a local garage change this or is it a complex job ?

You'll need to give an indication of what spec oil your running just in-case you're using a heavier/lighter oil. This can alter the expected pressure.

Think its the 15-40 but not sure its pissig down and the mannual is in the car but which ever type that they reccomend is the type i bought

15/40 would give you a higher reading at cold start than 0-40 I believe. Should be the same when warm which is the figure you are concerened with. The manual for the 4.2 V8 says 0-40, not sure for Sp6 i'm afraid.

The car had a head gasket replacment at tvr power 6 weeks ago but the oil pressure gauge has always been like this never going above 30psi hot and i dont know anything about engines, so assumed it was the norm but like i said it goes to 60psi cold in morning then drops down, to about 29psi hot . what do you reccomend

29-30 psi hot sounds ok to me, remember its not high oil pressure you need but constant. (obviously there is a lower limit but this sounds fine)

The sensor is quiet easy to change disconnect the wire screw the old one out and the new one in & re-connect the wire.Although it is located underneath the air filer so this has to come off, unless it is accessable from the underneath on a Cerbra.

What is the oil pressure at tickover? 29 psi still sounds low when on the move. As said the type of oil does make a difference I use 10W40 in mine now, it never liked the 0W40 and did give lower pressure readings with this.

Sorry didnt repy earlier been out all day , Just done 200 mile round trip and the oil pressure didnt go over 30psi the pressure when ticking over is 10psi

That sounds low even for a Speed 6. Hopefully following the earlier advice will put you in a position of knowing if it is a minor component (sensor or spring) or something a bit more expensive. Hope it's the former.

My Speed 6 run about 40+ when running at resonable speeds and around 10psi at idle. These figures were so after TVR had re-built the engine with a 2003 spec head on it. That is with Moble 1 15w-40w oil in it.

So i need to change the oil sensor and the oil type and see if that makes a differance. Does anyone know the part No for the sensor please?
