......number plate question.

Just about to order a new tail tidy for RR. It doesn´t have holes for the mounting screws to go through, but the guy has said that he´ll put a double row of double sided tape on it to mount my "show" plate.

I highlighted my concerns that my "show" plate may not stay on if I´m travelling at speed on a "private" road - apaarently I´d have to be The Hulk to get it off again.

What does the PH massive think?

TIA!

Most of the trim on the sides of cars is held in place by this sticky tape. Quite a few number plates, too.

I once put a socket on a wall using it (there were cables behind). When I tried to move it, it ripped the plaster off.

You do need a decent contact area, though.

Hiya JTT
Edited to add: I think Milly is right & you will be fine.... but....

If you're not sure about the tape you are using.... you could try VHB (Stands for Very High Bond) tape. It is made by 3M and it is industrial strength double sided - it is often used for shop displays & fixings.

I recently bought a very large roll to hang a large piece of art & it will take my body weight if applied properly!!!

I think it is only available in large rolls but would suggest you call a supplier & ask for a sample

I had a plate stuck on with two 50p sized blobs of some 3M supertape. It wasn't going anywhere.

Hi Anna

Thanks for the tip - I´ll see how it goes. If it comes to the worst I can always drill a couple of mounting holes myself.

How´s life without the ´blade treating ya? I´m guessing the weather means you´re not missing it too much! (Unlike me, as I´m in Barcelona and desperate for my RR to be here!)

I dude! I'm fine ta, of course I miss her but I wasn't riding her so it's not been too much of a wrench... and of course having two whole weeks snowboarding in the Rockies to look forward to is really helping!

Lucky you in Barthelona... how nice!

I´ll bet it is! All I´ve got is a three week break in the uk over xmas to see mrs Tip and the RR in the freezing cold. Hey ho, I´ll be laughing in the summer!

When you off?

Took it for one last run and stuffed it at Cadwell. Extremely minor damage, but enough to make it more viable as a dedicated track slag

Still for sale if you're interested
