Why do I get so angry???
Discussion
Every day on my way in to work/back home I just seem to be surrounded by inconsiderate incapable morons on the road, and Im afraid I just cant keep my cool.
I said to myself that this morning I was going to relax and try not to swear and shout out loud for once. I left in plenty of time but is there really any need to travel at 23 miles an hour on a clear road, I had a t
t in a Ka flash me as they thought I should have my lights on (street lamps were off as it was light) and whats more they didnt even realise their own lights were switched off until they flashed me
. I estimate that only 25% of the other cars using the roundabouts used their indicators, and probably 50% had appauling lane discipline, and what is it with braking all the way into and all the way round a corner?
Do I need to go and get some anger management help or is it me thats the normal one???
Please feel free to add your rant here:

Perhaps the flash was for something or somebody else, then?
Sadly not - no-one else on the stretch of straight road (ie. wasnt even an accidental indication or something) and no-one in front/behind me.
Hi
I totally sympathise, started trying to listen to mellow music as to calm me down, as the prodigy tends to get me really riled, but to no avail, the inconsiderate tossers on the way to work, seem to be half asleep, "choose a lane any lane" and so I need to be telapathic to decide which exit there gonna take off the roundabout AHHHHHHHHHH!!By the time I get to work am totally stressed, need lots of coffee and nicotine to calm me down and my journey is only 10 mins!!
ahhhhh thats better rant over

I think we all have our moments BUT if you feel like this every time you get in the car I would suggest it's a problem that's not good!!! Long term you may end up blowing your top and doing something you'll regret or you might go "pop". Maybe see a counsellor/anger management person if you feel it is that bad that you cannot solve it on your own.
The fact you are aware of the problem is very positive though!!!! Maybe you just need some simple techniques to help you become the calmer driver you seem to want to be.

Traveling to work on my motorsickle this morning encountered two morons....
1.Traffic entering town was all lined up moron is 200yds from her turn into local vets so decides my side of the road is her side so pulls out and turns in front of me so I just muttered plenty of space no need for heavy braking.
2.300yds later another moron same line of traffic can't be bothered to wait so does a u-turn this time much heavy braking swearing etc how I get to work in one piece is amazing can't people just wait 5-10 mins anymore????????

I dislike road driving so much i try and cycle or walk wherever possible these days. I walked into town the other day just to get a magazine (about 2 hours there and back) and felt great for it .. cold day but really relaxing to just plod along the pavement. Once in town those *fc!kwits* with buggies really got on my tits though

What I mean is you seem to have assumed he was telling you to turn on your lights for some reason? Why? If he didn't have his own lights on I just can't see that being the reason...

Funnily enough it seems to be more obvious when Im driving the cr@ppier end of my fleet
. I tend to be much more relaxed when Im in the Pork (except when people try to sideswipe me etc as they dont bother using their mirrors/brains of course
). PetrolTed said:
Just play anticipate the numpty instead.
It's quite rewarding to hold back at a junction/roundabout and anticipate what idiocy will be demonstrated rather than get caught in it and then remonstrating with said idiot.
Totally agree Ted, infact I believe myself to be quite a good reader or car 'body language'. But you just cant account for the meganumpty who just defies all road logic can ya

The big giveaway was watching said numpty in my rear view mirror rapidly turn their own lights on and speed away in opposite direction

How very odd.
They were probably just trying to switch the lights on, it's all on the stalk in the KA. I drove my friends KA the other day and gave someone a really big hoot - didn't mean to, just didn't realise the horn was there!
The answer of course is to just Chiiiiiiil Winston.
Cheers,
Rob.
It's awful I agree, it happens all the time. There seems to be an increase in the "I can't remember how wide my car is and am unable to judge, so it must be at least as big as a bus" fools as well.
I think there is a general speed up in life with more pressure on everyone - work hard, play hard ethic. I used to think it hugely amusing when in London that people ran between the platforms on the Tube - What's the rush? There's a train every couple of minutes.
I can sort of see what is going on now though. It took me ages to get to sleep last night, I was stressing about work, local football club (I'm the secretary) and a business project I'm thinking of starting. Really, what's the point? It will all be there in the morning. I think I should be more like my mum and dad, living in a 1950's time warp where everyone is nice to each other, everyone has a little time to take, over everything.
I feel better now, thank you.

A major part of my Ride Drive courses was to increase your visibility on the road and look way beyond the area immediately in front of you, concentrating on details maybe 100 yards plus ahead to reduce the likelihood of being caught out. Even leaving a car length between you and the car in front when stopping at a junction gives you more room to manoeuvre should a situation occur, and it also gives you more "personal space" on the road.
It is all about making sure the rules of the road and current situation are in your favour.
