After ordering a Cayman a few months ago, then changing my mind (worried about oversupply and the effect on residuals) and getting my money back, I've now ordered my first every Porsche - a new 997 C4S - spec is as follows:
- Atlas Grey Metallic paint
- Black leather interior
- Parking sensors
- Rains sensors / Auto headlights
- Tyre pressure monitor
- Home-link
- Cruise control
- Adaptive sports seats
- Heated seats
- Sat Nav
- CD autochanger
- Sports Exhaust
- Sports shifter
- Fatter spoke sports steering wheel

Just got to wait until it arrives in March - 3 or 4 months or torture await !!

I'd take the 3-4 month wait personally.

Welcome to PH, and excellent choice as far as you new car.

Were you by any chance on tyresmoke.net before?

Regards

If you're worried about getting your money back / residuals then don't buy a new Porsche!

Buy an ever-so-slightly used one so that the previous owner takes a bit of the hit!

Welshchris has a point but anything that is newish is going to drop value in its first 3 years. I picked up a 12 month old 996 C4S for £14k less than list but I'm under no illusions - a 996 is going to lose value hard particularly as 997s seems to be pushing the price of everything south.

But financial superficialities aside, you have a mighty spec on what will be a great motor car. If you want to see Atlas Grey in the sunshine have a look at my profile. You should see it now after 3 layers of Zymol (sadly no sun to put it in...).

I think you made a good move cancelling the Cayman - I can't see that holding value after about 5 minutes of decent supply landing (so that will be next week then). After showering it with praise wait for the car mags to start slating the handling in 3 months time.

Enjoy
Loony

Point taken re colour - everyone does seem to be buying Grey cars, however, I chose Atlas Grey because I liked the 'colour', not because I thought it was best for residuals.

Good Luck to anyone that wants their Carrera in Flame Red, but personally I was after something much more subtle (if a C4S can be subtle !!).

Loonycat - can I take your post as an invitation to come and Zymol my car when it arrives??

S3am - Yes, I am that 'sidicks' from Tyresmoke.net!!
