Passed a blue tuscan and grey lotus this morning that had had a coming together with the barrier on the A13 near Thorpe Bay. Road shut and ambulance in attendance, Tuscan looked a bit of a mess. Hope everyone alright?

I didn't see or hear of anything either, it was a bit slippery early on along there yesterday so really not that hard to lose it. What time did it happen?

tuscan s, lotus shunted him from behind, tore off front end from oil tank forewards. three wheels & a couple of suspension arms/tie bars here and there & o/s exhaust,will be repaired soon enough, I will post pics as I repair,anyone know of good panel suppliers or is it tvr only? need font end parts /set of wheels etc.

I know that I don't often post on here but this intrigued me. A Lotus hit the Tuscan from behind yet all the damage listed is at the front, together with 3 damaged wheels and suspension? That sounds to me like a mighty big shunt; I think I might be tempted to check the chassis geometry before I started anything else.

I assume from your question about from where can you get the body panels that you've never repaired a TVR before. If I am incorrect in this assumption I apologise, but if you are not experienced in this I would advise to leave it to the experts. I believe that there are several in Essex (PR Wood for one comes to mind) who are good.

I have over 20 years experience repairing all manner of performance cars, 7 years stitching corvettes back together plus the odd Ford RS200 (about 15). so repairs are no problem,grp is grp.
People get unduly worried by what they hear about glassfibre repairs,and admittedly there are monkeys out there but anyone with a bit of savvy & patience could honestly carry out a repair properly using materials readily available (I use a boatyard/hull manufacturer).
Mostly front parts because car spun then slid!,there is some rear damage but is localised to o/s taillight area and is just splitting of the outer skin from contact.
We all know how light these cars are, even a car as light as a fag paper lotus will push you all over the place if it contacts at any speed on a wet/damp road,our workshop floor is smooth concrete we have actually turned a cerbera around 180 by two people just pushing on the rear wheel arch and pushing sideways.WE HAVE ALL TRAVELLED BACKWARDS/SIDEWAYS AT SPEED AT SOME TIME OR ANOTHER its part of the parcel, 1 crash 7-8 tvrs not a bad average?

Found more or less everything today new at a price of course,
But did get some very good deals on mechanical/electrical parts fans/rads/lights, from Penninsula in cornwall, used them for a few years now never had any problems except clutches & wheels of course and they are far more helpful than most mainstream car dealers. I use many and most are capable at best.
Central tvr are supplying panels.fair price considering,(cheaper than 911 fnt end panels)
There seems to be sod all about in the way of used parts, even more so than I expected.

Glad you've sourced the bits.. Your right it does make me laugh when people go on about how difficult it is to repair GRP, racing tvr's I've had plenty of practice...

I did say 'intentional hooning', so guilty as charged at letting the back end hang out. But not, IIRC, ever unexpectedly...and certainly never backwards. I took the tone of the original (maybe wrongly) as suggesting that going sideways or backwards unexpectedly was part of the deal.
