Nitrous oxide - whooaaar!!

I have had nitrous oxide fitted to my '94 Chimaera 4 ltr, currently it's off the road being fixed ( not 'cos of the nitrous I hasten to add) but when it's running on gas it's FANTASTIC.

Just wondered if anyone else has taken the plunge and what their experiences have been?

Lots of people have fitted NO to RV8 engined Cobras, apparently with exillerating/terrifying results!

Looking at supercharging mine and a NOS system was also contemplated. Would be interested to learn more about what's involved, outlay, gains etc.

And can they (a blower and NOS) be run together without any problems?

i find the biggest problem with nos is it is like an addiction! the more you run the more you put in next time, the downside comes when you put too much in break the pistons!! keep it to a sensible level and it is cheap horsepower

As long as your rotating assembly is man enough, and you don't go too crazy, you should be ok

How long does it last on average? (I know about seconds per bottle etc. but in the real world on a trackday/weekend blast etc).

How long is a piece of string?

The way nitrous oxide works means that you can keep adding more power until the engine cries enough. That said if I am correct in assuming that you have a 5.7 Chevy engine in your Chim, it should cope easily with an extra 150 horses.

At that level a 10lb bottle of gas would last approx 3-4 mins BUT you only use it on wide open throttle, not a situation that occurs for too long and too often in your situation methinks!

Had it on the 5ltr and it was intoxicating and that was only on 50hp pills,the RV8 will take 100 no probs but will chew through the nos.
I'm sure you'll end up what I did and buy a spare bottle,just in case you run out when you really need it..

Hmm - 400bhp will do for now, I'd rather hot the engine the old fashioned way (cam springs, rockers good for another 50) if I ever bother to go for more power at least there all the time.

But sounds good for a laugh - love the Vids by Scandalous - where they rent the C5 Vette and hid a small NOS kit init and then go and make some money blowing Mustang GTs away
