[Frank Spencer] I'm having a bit of trouble [/Frank Spencer]

I'm trying to find the oil pressure warning light sender (Rover V8) and I can't see it anywhere. I can see...

The main pulley on the crank
The water pump
The dizzy
The oil filter
The oil pressure gauge (I think, underneath the main pully connected to something that looks like the vac advance on the dizzy)
The valley gasket
The temperature gauge sender (I think, behind the dizzy, single spade connector)
The floor

Can anyone help to identify the location of said sender, possibly with reference to the things I can see.

Ta,

Ian A.

Look for the oil filter low down on the driver's side of the engine. Um, if you have a remote filter, follow the oil lines back to the engine, the sandwich plate they connect to takes the place of a conventional oil filter. The oil pressure warning light sensor and oil pressure gauge sensor are screwed into tappings in the housing that the filter is screwed on to.

Thanks, I can find the oil filter (it's attached, not remote) so I'll have a look around the housing. I only had a quick look at lunch time but I got my hands dirty and it was cold and raining so I gave up. Will have a look from underneath the car at home.

Buy four post lift. Put car on lift. Raise to 6 foot high and walk underneat to front of the engine. Look up and say "Aha so that is where the 1.5 inch diameter sender is". Or alternatively say ... that is not where the sender is....

There was a 4-poster on Ebay recently, if that's any help...

That might be the next option. I have had a quick look where Peter H suggested but you can't see the filter housing from the top thanks to the ancilliaries obscuring the view. You could probably see it from underneath but I haven't had the time or energy to put it on axle stands yet. A 4 post lift would be very handy.

Found it. It was hiding behind some wires. Exactly where Peter H said it would be. I have since found the oil diagram that Ian S sent me shows exactly where the sender is. Doh!

Thanks again,

Ian A.
