What on earth is going on with T350 and Tamora prices at the moment.
A 2005 T350 with 4000 miles on the clock for under £30K must be the bargain of the year.

Yes that sounds awfully cheap. Where have you seen that?

Wow that is cheap! Esp given that comes with at least 2 years left of the 3 year warranty!

I'll be off to the classifieds then.

I can only imagine it's a combination of depressed winter sports car prices, a desperate owner and the S6 horror stories putting people off.

I hope people consider that next time they want to slate the S6 publicly.

Ok have seen it in the classifieds. Of course it is not necessarily an indication of the direction of TVR prices, it could well be someone who has personal circumstances dictate that the car must go asap.

Those who strongly slate the S6 either don't own one or are facing a £5k bill though. I think I may respond more verbally to the former in future.

I agree that this is partly winter prices, not helped by people needing to sell urgently.

Agree with you Targ, I have every sympathy with the guys who have been through hell with their S6 car, and couldn't argue against them, it's the 'others' I have a prob with - if I were of a paranoid disposition, I'd think that some V8 owners stir things intentionally, to keep the prices of the older gen TVR boyent! lol
Regarding prices, I suppose it depends on personal circumstances, if you have just lost your job or financial/personal circumstances change, you'll want just enough to cover the outstanding finance, or if not on finance, enough money to tide you over 'till you get back on your feet again.
There are a LOT of cheap cars from across the marque board at the moment, and not a lot of buyers, it seems. As I said a while ago, our local BMW dealer is even offering thousands off its new cars, and I have never seen that before!

Nothing to worry about, so stop scaremongering (which all this forum seems to do these days!). It's simply that winter is not the time of year to be buying a 350+ bhp car is it! Winter is ALWAYS a slow time of year for cars like TVR, so there is little wonder it's up at a bargain price. Dealers wont buy them because they don't want to add to their stock which isn't shifting, so the only chance people have of selling is private at a 'knock down' price. If it were summer that car would EASILY sell for £32-£34k privately and at least £38k at a dealer!

Bear in mind that 2005> cars are subject to the recent HUGE price hike by TVR and spec change which means you have to pay for things like 18" alloys now, making a good spec T350 be at lerast £44k... so these silly classified prices wont be lasting for long when newer cars start appearing on the S/H market.

Also if you look at the car in question (i assume it's the cooper green one), you will see it has a green interior! Another Stevie Wonder interior which wont help it sell. Having monitored the classifieds religiously for the past 6 months, I have noticed that classic and subtle colour combos sell, where as the 'Stevie' cars dont.

I bought a brand new T350T back in July and out of interest (after seeing prices in the classifieds) I rang a few dealers for a valuation on it, based on what they would give me for it NOW as cash. With my colour combo and spec iI was quoted between £34k and £37k, with the dealers saying that next summer the figures quoted will stil be the same becasue they know they could sell it!

Personally I'm not worried at all, and I wish there were less of these type of threads and S6 engine bashing threads. These threads do NOTHING to help the brand, so please give it a rest!

Anyone who thinks they are not going to lose £8-10k in the first year, then £5k in the next 2 years is plain daft. Depreciation will slow down when the cars reach 4-5 years old. When I paid £40k for my car (Note: paid, not leased, borrowed begged or stole - saved up for 6 years and paid) I went in with my eyes open and thought if I kept the car for 3-4 years and got more than £20k back then I wouldn't be too annoyed.

It would cost £45k to load up a Boxster S with the right kit, 2002/2003 models are now 20k less. Looking at the classifieds there is a £130k Brabus CL thingy up for £49k after 3 years and normal miles. There are Boxsters of the same age for £27-£30k. There is a 2002 'S for £23,500. Depreciation hits most sports cars.

I though the green interior was quite nice - its not loud green and a nice contrast with the other shades in the car. Colours are alwaya very personal thing - I'm no fan of deep green or deep blue colours on TVRs which nearly every Chimaera and Griffth seem to be painted in - but I know many love the colours (Mind you, I'm sure the colour is one reason my Chimaera sold so quickly).

Kev - have you got your car back yet?

I also thought the spec was quite nice and the interior went well with the external colour. It has the 18inch alloys but can't remember if it had Air Con mind saying that i hardly ever use it in the Cerbera so probably not too much of an issues just a nice to have.
I have to admit with the prices as they are and the 3 year warranty offered by TVR along with the new after market warranty including wear and tear option i can't think of a better time to buy one .... 3 year old cars are still advertised at approx £23K + so that has to be the one of the cheapest TVR's you will be able to own over a 2-3 year period ........ now do i sell the Cerbera?

I have to agree with you there. The winter months are the time to bag yourself a real bargain. If you can live with that interior colour and the spec is good (air-con's a must for re-sale at a dealer!), then I personally think you should go for it - IMO the car will be worth the same this coming summer (if not more!).

I actually really like the interior. Can't see why it would offend anyone.

The car trade is suffering in the same way as the High street retailers..

Mate who sells New Jags is offering nearly 10K off a 50K jag (example) - OK the model is due for replacement but they are knocking off huge amounts off new cars :

You get the obvious knock on to the private sector - sometimes it's slow to catch up though - witness some second hand sales of nearly new cars which are often more than buying a new car..

I'm sure many will bag a real bargain (S6) TVR and the market will recover in the spring..

One thing is sure - I would not pay over the odds for an old fashioned RV8 engined TVR when I could have a Tuscan/Tamora/T350/Sagaris...

But I'm not going to go onto those forums and slag them off.. no point they are fine cars

Got to agree, i really like it too... but the guys above make a good point. It's a 'marmite' combo.

Reselling when you're done with it, may prove tricky.

Totally agree the time of year is not a good time to sell, AND the odd 'alternative colour/interior scheme can knock thousands off, or make it harder to sell.. I bet an identical spec car in moonraker black, or similar popular colour, will/would go much quicker....

Even Grifith's suffer with a poor choice of colour/interior. I remember seeing a griff in white (not pearlescent) for sale at one dealer for over a year (on autotrader).

its not just the T350. Take a look on autotrader at early cerbs that have dipped to peanuts (and less than similar year Griffs), the Tams have dipped under £20k and only the Tuscan seems to be firming up at early ones around £18k. You cant give early chims away now. Scarey stuff.

yeah I saw it Tim. The scariest part about that was the new owner has posted to say the chassis (my biggest point of concern with that car) was sound and the outriggers in good condition.

T350 are down to £22k for a 03

you can get a nice 53 plate 04 for £26k

so I would not pay 10k more to get a car not 12 months newer thinking I will lose another 10k+ in a years time.

As you say all sports cars are droping like a stone but the T350 seems to be taken a nose dive.

Does it matter what the depreciation is?

1. If you have already spent the money, you've got the car. Surely the pleasure is in driving it, not how much its worth.

and,

2. If you don’t own one it’s easier than ever to get one!

I speak from the point of view that I'm really happy with what I've got. I can’t see that I could get a better driving experience unless I spent ALOT more cash!

I agree that the price change is certainly seasonally affected though. Buy one now!!
