OPC. Worth the extra?

I've just been speaking to two OPCs about used C4Ss and I'm impressed with them. Impressed with the preparation they tell me they do, impressed with the warranty.
Thing is, come resale if I didn't go back to an OPC, would the next owner care a jot that it was OPC supplied?
Am I getting this money back next time I trade it in at an OPC?

You can get the 111-point inspection done on any 911, not just an OPC supplied one. You can also apply the same used warranty, as long as the car passes the OPC inspection.
Personally I bought privately, had the car inspected before purchase, and applied the warranty. Saved myself around £3-4k that way.

Surely on a mid 40's 996C4S, the OPC must have their fingers in the pie by a good £6k right? That's after they've spent the money on bringing the car up to scratch and sorted out the warranty right? So either do it yourself (as has been said) or try and knock them down at least £3k on their asking price.

Agree with the 6k difference, but.........
How much time, hassle do you have to spend buying and selling your cars privately. How much money could you earn in that time doing what you do for a living?
Then factor in peace of mind that you're covered against almost all forms of fraud, and it's highly unlikely that the car will have a dodgy history.
Also you have to put a value on the fact that buying a car from a dealer(not just an OPC), is an extremely pleasurable experience.
Work all that out and it's probably less of a saving (although it obviously is one) than you might think.

There are some independants where you can smell their excrement on the steering wheel. Quite rightly Ted prevents them from being named and shamed because in fairness there is only ever opinion in this debate. The OPCs do a good job, they provide a great service for a fair price and they guarantee what they do. They are a legitimate business. If you can accept that they want to make 10k on every deal and they are an expensive but fail safe solution to Porche ownership then go for it and spend the surplus time making the money back. Buying private? Well if you have a tame expert (they are really few and far between) then you can buy a lot cheaper sell for less loss and have a lot more hassle. If I had unlimited funds I would use the OPC. Particularly as my local one has a particularly pleasant young woman serving coffee. 
Bought mine from an independent dealer and it was the cheapest car he had sold in over a year so he wasn't too worried about margins......got the 111 point and a service a the local OPC thrown into the bargain and could have walked if it was negative......I reckon I saved almost £8K in comparison to the OPC prices.
Conversely I got my RS from a dealer for a fair price, with 16 months warranty, an oil + filter change & a few other odds and sods.
They wanted rid of the car as it was sticking to the forecourt, but it was both a pleasurably and fairly priced experience. I paid less than any indy's were asking, or most private sales. Granted I got very luck to find a car they needed rid of and were willing to give a keen price on, but it just shows they can be very competitive sometimes.
Someone else got a bargain on a mk2 G3 at 53k ticket price a couple of days ago from an OPC.

Yep thats it. Were more than happy to let me testdrive it although it was clever upselling on their part as I was looking for a mk2 gt3!

Beg to differ. Gotta say the OPC I bought my 996tt from have provided me with a sh*te service. All smiles, coffee and "whatever sir wants . . " when the deal was being made, but read my thread on wheelnuts - it'll give you a different perspective. Quite honestly, I've had more comeback with the pirate dvd peddlers - and I'm not joking!!!
Would I ever buy from an OPC again?? NO!!! Indeed, just found a Boxster s for the missus, from an independent dealer. Was having trouble selling my EVO, so they gave me a decent(ish) px price for it. Asked them to take it for an inspection, needs a new clutch, which they said they will replace (no quibbling) and get it warrantied (Porsche). Both missus and I happy bunnies.
