I brought my tuscan s from a main dealer in nth london in june, when i picked up the car the salesman said he will ring me when he gets the spare set of keys and fob from the owner, i have been back twice, faxed them twice, and on my last visit (2 weeks ago) i am still being told that they have got a new set on order and could take up to a year to sort out as they are very hard to get (I THINK THEY ARE TALKING BOLLOCKS) anyone got any advice of what i should do next as it is starting to piss me off and only haveing one set is a worry. Happened to me on my Porsche mate (from an OPC too). Was told that the previous owners were on holiday but had a good relationship with the dealer and would post the extra key when they returned.
Did they hell, eventually (after a month) they admitted they could not recover the 2nd key. Instead they sent me a spare key and when it arrived (about 8-10 weeks) I had to take it to my local OPC to be coded to the car.
Was a bit worried, another key was floating around that could unlock my car! I should probably have been a little more demanding and asked for the codes to be changed so the lost key wouldn't work but I didn't... However, nothing bad happened.
PS: Get them to sort it or threaten to return the car (which I think you're entitled to do)

Also slightly worrying from a security point of view, that somewhere else ia a key and an alarm fob for your car!!
Tell them to pull there finger out and get it sorted otherwise suggest that if anything goes wrong you will hold them responsible for any recovery/associated costs!!
Worth a try, I never did get my spare key/alarm fob, ended up going elsewhere and getting the bits for myself!!

I think i'd be having a word with the factory.Youve done more than you should have,and still to no avail,that's such poor service.Tell the factory the full story and explain how cheesed off you're feeling about the whole thing.The factory should then do something about it.They should get feedback about dealers like this,as if nobody tells them,then they just assume the dealer is ok,and there are too many crap ones like this out there that are not helping the tvr name.
I think the system is a META . You should be able to order one from any Meta dealer or any such distributer as long as you have the code, should be on plastic card in manual. When the fob turns up they code it into the system and away you go. If as with the newer ones the key has the fob built in it may be a little more tricky. May be same as Vauxhall? This may not help you unless you can pass the bill onto the dealer.?

THey owe you more than a new key, the whole lot should be recoded(or whaever) is required to make it secure. (just had a similar argument with our insurance company not wanting to replace keys/codeing) when vehicle was stolen/recovered, yet the thief still had a key.
This is just a very poor attitude from a poor dealer...
The reverse cabn be true, I bought a corrado vr6 (used ) from a volvo dealer, i warned them thatit might cost a lot to get the key replaced (as I realised the master was missing), got the car for a good price. As it was the maste rmissing, it did not matter that another key was out there somewhere, as the whole lot had to be recoded.
They found out it would be more work than they thought and apologised that it would take longer than they though as they did realise that it virtually meant a whhole new alarm, cost them at least £500 quid - maybe more) but they honoured it without any fuss whatsoever.
Their are other MUCH better TVR delaers with a very good customer service ethos, vote with your feet.
If this is their attitude with something minor/part of the deal, do you really want them servicing your car.
Complain to the dealer principal, and if no satisfaction TVR. This type of behaviour gives the other GOOD TVR dealers (and they are the majority - must be love not money ) a bad name.

In Hungary you cannot insure a car fully comprehensive (only 3rd party) unless you produce both sets of keys to the insurance company at the time of the car being inspected (all cars are inspected for insurance purposes). No second set and you have to change the locks (or coding) before they will give you cover.
Earlier this year we bought a new Pug 206 for my wife. This comes with ONE key that controls the alarm and remote locking. The second key is only a normal key. We complained to the dealer who said this was standard, if we wanted a second alarm key we would have to pay an extra £50 or so. We ordered the second key, it took 2 months to arrive from the factory (factory fitted alarm system) and was the wrong key, the shank was too short to fit the ignition switch. Garage returned it and re-ordered, two more months and same result. We are now waiting for the third key to turn up, nearly 3 months this time. When we get it we will have to register it with the insurance company. When my Hilux was stolen we had to produce the car papers and all keys before they agreed to pay out on the claim.

Hmmm... there's only one TVR dealer in North London that I'm aware of and before now I've never heard a bad thing about them.

I would like to see him try, Maybe another visit is due, as giles always seems to be (out at the moment)
The dealers you refer to is no longer affiliated with the factory as such.
The Nobel’s(sp) on the forecourt suggest this.
I am also requiring a key coding, as I have only ever had one working.
I am warranted until April so will get down there by then.
They have a chap who does all the alarm stuff for them.
Give me a mail if you like as it would seem you need a new key fob coding to your car; we can get them both done at once.
Unfortunately it would seem that the dealer in question could, in my opinion do better with after sales service. This does not mean it won’t get sorted but be prepared to be, shall we say, upfront and decisive.

Action speaks louder than words guys.Just make a call to trading standards.. If they have previously recieved complaints about the dealer they will pay them a visit. If you have a missing key and your car goes missing and is later found with no lock damage, the finger of suspicion will be ponted very firmly at you.!!! There would be a strong case for your insurers to withdraw cover as well..... If you lose are have your keys stolen, your insurance company will insist on a lock change, normally at your own expense therefore this situation will be no different..... Make sure you have pushed the dealer as hard as you can before you make the call though.!! You may find they will close ranks and not help at all when they get a call from trading standards.!!!.... With stories like this its no wonder main dealers are getting bad press. I mean, if they cant get the simple to sort things right how the hell can you trust them with major issues. Truth is there are a lot of cracking dealers for all marques out there been tarred with the same brush as the few bad ones.

Are you sure aout that? They are still listed as a main dealer when I last looked on TVR's website.
