very strange behaviour - 993 accelerator

Whilst driving my 993 (standard C2) yesterday I experienced some very peculiar throttle/accelerator pedal bahviour.
Its pretty hard to describe but it was as if the accelerator pedal was pulsing under my foot, rather like a brake pedal when ABS has kicked in, except it was much less regular and not at all predictable.
It happened a few times and each time lasted for a few seconds (say 1-3 secs).
The only difference I can think of that is throttle/fuel related is that I filled up with Tesco 99 RON for the first time yesterdsay (91.1p!), the previous tank was Optimax.
Anyone got any ideas?

Dan, not sure what would have any effect on the throttle pedal apart from a traction control system (not applicable in your 993) or cruise control (which if you don't have is also not applicable at all).
Have you tried squirting some WD40 or GT85 down the cable sleeve? Could the throttle cable be sticking in the sleeve and hence being jerky when you try and change pedal position?

Yep - agree with VS. As the throttle system on a 993 is just a simple cable opening a butterfly unlike the modern fly by wire jobbies, logically the only thing that could give an "active" feeling to the pedal would be the actuator of the cruise control. Is your car equipped with this system?

Then at a loss completely!! Are you sure that your boxer shorts aren't too tight and thus causing nervous spasms in your right leg?
