Tuscan 2 S or Griff ?
Discussion
What do you think ?
Owned a Chimp 450 for 3 years.. clocked 44k in it
Got a Tuscan 4L ... had it from new (02plate) .. done 37k
Loved both
Time for a change again ..
Obviously from the above I drive my car as my main car. How would a Griff live up to this ? any views on year / model to go for ?
I am at decision point as to whether to push the boat out for the Tusc 2 S or go back to the roots of the v8 rumble ?
pros and cons from griff owners appreciated..
thx

Not a Griff owner, but which do you prefer from your previous cars?
Chim 450 = Griff 500
Tuscan 1 = Tuscan 2 S
(Well, near enough IMHO)
For me, the S6 issues (lack of engine reliability, lack of V8 rumble) are outweighed by everything else (looks, handling, ancillary relability, rev limit, the noise at RPM a V8 can only dream of) etc etc.
Don't get me wrong, I loved both my Chim's, but the Tuscan is in a different league to the RV8 TVR's (IMHO). (But so are the potential running costs).
How about keeping the current Tuscan and getting a pre-cat Griff as well?

Personally I would love a Tuscan 2S; the convertible is a true successor of the Griff. The Tuscan 2 is much more usuable as an everyday car than the Griff IMHO and the current 3 year warranty takes care of the engine issues.
The only thing keeping me from trading in the Griff, apart from temporary budget restraints, is the lack of torque from the S6 engine. That and the horrible looking rear end and spoiler on the S. A shame they didn't use the looks of the R.

I have had a Griff and put 50k on it as an only car. It loved daily running, was always fun, occasionally troublesome, but always fun.
My Tuscan is an occasional car, now. Given that my daily commute has changed and I use the car differently, I am happy not to run the Tuscan as a daily driver. The Speed Six is part of it, although I would always be careful to warm the V8 up, but not all of teh story - the general mass of "TVR quirks" make it both special and demanding. Not to mention the fact that the extra performance can be demanding on tired end-of-long-work-day drives.
Both are more than capable, but I would say that a Griff can be a great daily car at reasonable running costs and probably less of a heart- and headache because of the possibility of major items, whether engine, gearbox, clutch which are all that much more performance car parts (not so much how much they cost to replace, but whether you have the security of supplies, too).
Whichever decision you make, you'll have fun! Good luck.

Unless you just want the griff stamp in your collectors book then, surely having already owned a tuscan and presumably like it I'd go for the T2!! its supposed to be better than the 1...
Only from my experience the only TVR I ever wanted was a griff!! thats why I got one.. if you haven't got that bug then for you it will just be another chimp.
But beano500 is right which ever you choose will make you grin from ear to ear!!
sorry to play devils advocate but what about a T350? they look lovely or am I just weird?

Ah, Beano, we meet again!
I've had my Griff 500 since 1999 and frankly don't want anything else. I think about alternatives now and again and always discard them. A Tuscan 2 with a V8 looks like a successor, but they don't make one and I couldn't afford it afford it if they did.
The Griffith is *the* TVR classic in every way.
