I have been watching this on Discovery , brave is not the word for this woman , monster seas howling gales and she has to climb the mast to do reairs in the open ocean .
Well done girl , but as you say the only place you see any mention of it is on Discovery ,,,,,,,,not a single mention on BBC world or Sky ,have not looked at CNN but for gods sake this is a major sporting victory

Not to mention she smashed the previous record for a 60' monohull by over 2 days! (in a race that only took her 13 days - hell of a reduction).
Btw there has been limited coverage on the BeeB on thursday nights at the end of the America's Cup programme (11.20 BBC2 Thursday nights)
Cheers

There's another British girl - Emma Richards - on a boat called Pindar, whose competing in the solo round the world race. She's also had to climb the 30 metre tall mast to reef a new halyard - that takes a lot of guts and an amazing amount of stamina. She finished 3rd in the Torbay to Cape Town leg that finished 10 days ago.
Next it's the race across the Southern Ocean. Can you imagine what it must be like trying to get a few moments of sleep with the wind howling and the boat sailing through the darkness on autopilot with always the possibility of rogue icebergs??
Respect!
I follow the race on downloaded software from www.voyager2020.com.

an there is the problem , i have never heard of Emma girl , im not a sailing groupy type fan but i do find these races interesting , the way Discovery have covered the Route de Rum is very good i think .
Apparently Ellen Mac has a cult status in France and is worshiped by them its so strange in England she is hardly known ....... i guess thats because she has never been caught sniffing Coke with an MP or having Hooker partys that seems to be the only thing that fires up the interest of the media
Well done Ellen,
and good luck to Emma
Marki, Ellen is big in France, but they are a sailing nation. Whereas, IF Ellen hadn't have finished 2nd on the Vonde Globe 2 years ago, we still wouldn't know of her.
Her win in Kingfisher, which I believe is the last time she is sailing her, only made the news BEHIND England's LOSING at cricket and ManU winning!
Come on England, you voted her Top Woman in the BBC sports award, but won't support her in major competitions because, 1 no balls in the game. 2 no balls on the person! I am a big follower of motor racing, but I am a HUGE supporter of all English sportspersons in whatever their chosen sport.
