Unemployability & Stagnation Francaise...
Discussion
Following an unusually challenging spice meal late last night, I was compelled to spend some part of the small wee hours nursing myself back to the land of the living in front of the News 24 channel.
A look was being taken into the woes facing the small/medium sized Gallic company, specifically caused by the unworkable plethora of employee rights and crippling national insurance taxation there which have effectively rendered static, much of that sector's potential expansion planning.
This goes a long way in explaining the French economic malaise generally and it's suicidal legislative background, justified by one minister of such utopian folly, on the basis of world class health care provision (the sacred cow issue even here, too, of course) struck me as more ostrich-spec dimwittedness in the classical europarl mold.
These political creatures are the sanctioners of economic death for western Europe and it is critical that Britain's politicos remain steadfastly detatched from the bulk of these imbecilic designs.
So the day after Billy Liar surrended yet more of what was gained at Agincourt, let us beware of further capitulation in the face of unfaltering French socialism.

Those frenchies are a funny lot. Only a few months ago I had a french union official go off on one because I told him that I was logging users attempts to do stuff they shouldn't do (useful when recreating fraudulent activity). Apparently it violated their rights etc & he kicked up a fuss which went to Exec board level of very large global firm. Monsieur was eventually told to foxtrot oscar but not before it cost something in the region of £100k in wasted resource. zut alors
Yep - I have a French company with me as director and sole employee and have to say that the bureaucracy involved is daunting. But if the left get in next time (and some suspect, post "NON" vote that this is the way it'll go) then things will get worse.
They have listed loads of taxes that will be created or increased, re-nationalistion of EDF, stiffened employment law to prevent the use of short term contracts....the list goes on.
When the Brits launched a study a couple of years ago to try to simplify the process of setting up a company, they were spurred on by the example of the Aussies and the Canadians where only 4 administrative steps are required compared to 6 or 8 in the UK. At the time, the same process in France required 56 bureaucratic hurdles to be leapt!
But the wine's good.

I can recall doing some benchmarking with a major French brewer a few years ago ....
Their employment costs were at least Salary +80 % on top !!!! , (its about + 20 -25 % in the UK IIRC ) - and impossible to sack anyone ...
Result ? - they automate much more and spend more on high-speed high capital cost production equipment......
which means FEWER jobs :dohhhhh: .... a clear case of the Unions and French Socialism shooting themselves in the foot with both barrels
