Heard on the news this morning but can't find a link. An OAP who had been mugged twice carried a second wallet with 5 photocopied £20 notes, on reverse side they were blank and he'd written 'gotcha'
He got mugged, the bad guys legged it with the second wallet and he got nabbed for relating the tale. He now could go down for forgery.

This is bloody tragic, what's a mugger to do if he can't rely on an OAP not to rip him off?

Very much doubt anything will come if it, the laws an ass but not that much of an ass!

Sounds like its been blown out of all proportion by the news people again.

If the mugger took the wallet where is the evidence.

reminds me one may day riot when the traders were photocopying £50 notes and throwing them out the window when the great unwashed were walking by

Something is odd about this story.

The report I read said that the Police found the notes when searching his home for stolen property.

So there is more to this than meets the eye.

I cant see anything happening on the facts that have already been given- and in any case, the police are on the victims side from what ive experienced.

Couple of "locals" from Reading (lovely place that it is), tried to relieve me of my watch and wallet not that long ago,but unfortunatly for them the friend I was with is rather handy and built like a brick outhouse.

So when their request for my watch and wallet was refused, we ended up having a bit of a nasty scrap in the street, and my friend laid into one of these blokes rather proficiently.

These two shits were both quite clearly on drugs. In any case the police actually did find them and they are currently going through "the system".

Mmy friend was worried that the police wouldnt see his actions as self defence and that he went a bit too far, as one of the guys would have been looking somewhat worse for wear when the police nabbed him.

The answer of the investigating officers: "Its a shame there wasnt more of you there to teach him a lesson..."

Mugging is a cowards crime, and the police view it as such. Common sense will prevail..

Welwyn Garden City

Unfortunatly from what ive seen of the police in WGC they are too busy setting up speedtraps on parkway to actually provide a presence in the town centre..

In anycase, most of the time the police will use their loaf and wont bother to charge "have a go heros", mainly because the CPS will say its not in the public interest to go ahead...

Problem is that the legal threshold for "excessive force", is "that no such reasonable person making all due allowance for the pressure under which the accucsed was operating could consider justifiable the force used.."

So the moral of the story is that if you ever find yourself in such a situation, tell the police that you thought the scroat said something along the lines of "if you get in my way/dont let me go/dont stop holding my hand etc, ive got a knife and im going to open you up/use it etc.." or words to that effect..

Let him off with a warning? for what doing the right thing? so much for teh police being on teh victims side.

And what did teh theif get F all probably and hes probably still out there doing it again and again.
