I've got a super nerdy mate who went to the trouble of reserving one and then taking a day's leave just so he could be one of the first to pick one up.

I've given him a considerable amount of stick and laughed at how sad he is for doing it.

It is also amazing that the Xbox is losing money hand over fist JUST to try and knock the PS2 off the top spot.
Only Microsoft could use this tactic any other company would have shut the process down.

There was another identical one up earlier (which I guess eBay have pulled) that was at 17 bids and standing at £460. There was even a question from a bidder on that one asking "why so cheap?" with the reply "because it's just an email address". Muppets deserve to get ripped off, really...

Which is why my colleague pre-ordered two. One for himself, and one to sell for a profit. We're considering jointly speculating on the PS3, depending on the spec, likely availability and when it's released. Pre-Christmas rush prushes prices sky high!

One went for £1270 this morning.

I've got one as I pre-ordered from Amazon in August, but was seriously tempted to sell this morning when I saw the prices.

Does anyone know when the 360 is likely to be avaiable again in shops, I missed out on the pre-order but wasn't that bothered as I thought they'd be limited 360 games to start off with. I'm guessing it'll not be until the new year when it's poss to get one off the shelf.

why why why o why are people paying that much for it when you can order one on amazon, okay theres a delay, but at the end of the day its just a games console, and the current release of games arent even as good as my mates pc

They're sold at a loss to make them cheap to buy to get market saturation. They then take a cut of the games.

It's the old gilette idea, give away the razor then sting people for the blades.

My colleague got one in the main Cardiff GAME store this morning & said they even though the place was heaving they still had quite a few.
