FIY guys, just been getting a few quotes.

26, 2 years NCB, car garaged at night, South coast, limited to 5000 miles, one SP30 in August 2001 and one claim total loss in 2004.

Following numbers so far, all 12 month FC policies.

Nationwide £1635.90
Sunninghill £1451.06
Admiral £1375.45
Privelige £1524.60
Tesco £1520.00
Comp Car Ins £1350.00
Direct Line £1481.00
Elephant £1456.30
Churchill £1597.05
Bell £1928.00

Wouldn't quote (most due to 30+ age limit)

Adrian Flux
Peart Accosiates
HIC
Classic Line
Liverpool Victoria

Also I tried confused.com and only the Admiral was under £2K I had 14 other quotes of between £2-3K and about 10 people that wouldn't quote, of those one was Tesco which had previuosly given me one of my lower ones.... work that out....

Any other companies to try???

Hi there... I'm 26 near London but full NCB/No Points/No penalties. On a 2001 4.5 LW RR I got £650 FC + £300 for protected NCB. Limited to 3000 miles (I don't get to drive it much)

I used Churchill. They matched the A Maning quote I got and no need to prove performance driving history or have a tracker. I'd try them.

They're part of Admiral.

Tried them anyway,

£1248 then £1546 with the SP30 and then jumped to £1928 with the claim added!

Ouch!

Try Swiftcover.co.uk

They insured mine last week for £364. Mind you I'm 42, but even then they were hundreds (yes!) cheaper than any others I tried, even using online brokers.

Cheers all.

Yeo tried all those too. Don't think they would quote as I hadn't written any prices against their names. Even THB, (it cracks me up when I phone them as I swear the woman in the message can't say THB Eggerlawson! lol)

Just had a call from confused.com on behalf of Admiral beating the CCI quote by £50 and with a lower excess (£500).

They're winning at the moment.

Chaps,

Am with Elephant.co.uk at the moment @ £ 1,274 for 10months. RAC are quoting me £ 1,190 for renewal 12months on my Cerb 4.2 1997

28 yrs, 3 yrs NCD, live in Central London, no Claims/Convictions, 8000 miles/year

They apparently give big discounts if you are an existing member.

Was really surprised. The only company cheaper was swiftcover @ 1,056 but they required a tracker fitted.
