I've just received a bill for £940 for a backlog of class 2 ni contributions, I know, naughty boy. I was just wondering if I am legally obligated to pay them and what would happen if I told them to go f**k themselves?

Two things will always get you in the end - death and the Tax man.

I'd suggest discussing payment terms with them (such as £50 per month or something).

At the end of the day they really will get you in the end so I'd just pay up.

Not really what you wanted to hear but they can make your life very uncomfortable and cause you trouble for years to come if you don't play ball.

I doubt it groucho

Just think of the lovely state pension you will get as a result of all the NI you have paid.

That's my point. I'll happily forfeit that.

A guy who was working for my dad was getting benefits illegally. He got a fine of something like £5k, but managed to do a deal where he pays it off at 12p per day! And they helped him set up his own plastering firm!!!!

I got a final demand on Monday for the last three years. They wanted a grand total of:

£2 a week.
