Ooooh, that blue GT4 is rather tasty .....
You didn`t see Top Gear last night then!
The prices of these ancient Italians are likely to be in freefall given this report . Buy a Ferrari by all means but buy the newest , most expensive you can . 308GT4 actually appaling to drive these days as it`s very very heavy to steer and not that quick . Mondial is very loud at motorway speed because it has low gearing in top and 400`s are cheap because they cost more to run than a 355 or 360 .
The 308GT4 is a classic "cheap" Ferrari choice and has long been so, Top Gear report or not... Prices for clunky ones have been £10k/low teens for a long time. I suggest you will need to spend a fair bit on one at that price to get it how you would like it, so it is always going to make more sense for most people to buy a well sorted and looked after example.
They are certainly not "appalling" to drive as the previous poster suggests - you obviously have to make some allowances for a 30 year old car and if you want raw speed then look elsewhere. Their ride/handling compromise is quite an eye opener if you have been brought up on max power 18" wheels
They continue to make an effective classic track and race car and are well recognised as a great, but 30 year old, drive!

I don't think the prices will freefall after the Top Gear thing. It was good publicity, lots of us saying we rather liked those 308 GT4 thingys after that episode! £10k gets you a bad one, but it's tempting to think it'd be a nice way to spend £15k.
But it does remind you, make sure you buy a good one!

And the award for ill-informed garbage post of the week goes to ...
Can you buy a Ferrari on the cheap?
Yes you can. But you can not run it on the cheap.
Case in mind. Chap asks me if I know of a cheap 360 Modena for sale. He doesn't mind LHD.
I promtly offer him three really good LHD cars for just under £60k each. All with FFSH , belts done, decent tyres, clutches etc. No thanx, I will try to get one myself he says.
A couple of months later, our paths cross. I asked him if he ever got his 360.
Rather coyly he says, yes, but I wish I had bought one of yours.
Basically, be bought a LHD car for about £54k, but ended up having to pay for a full service with belts, new clutch, 4 new tyres, the exhaust was blowing, so he had to buy a Tubi system, plus a few days in the paint shop having stone chips repaired and the wheels reconditioned. His bill for that lot took the total price of his LHD 360 to over £65k.
Moral of the story. Buy the best that you can afford and make sure that all the pricey things have been done.
