There is currently an Antanov 225 Mryia in Nottingham East Midlands Airport.

This is the worlds largest aircraft, six engines in total

I believe it is the only one in the world flying, and was originally designed to carry the Russian Space Shuttle. This is only the third time it has been to the UK.

It should be leaving tomorrow about 8am.

Jeepers, That's worth seeing. I didn't realise just how big it was. Hope it doesn't drop an engine on my gaff!

Cool, I'm half tempted to get up early and drive over there to see it take off.

I think the Aeropark is open.

I am still thinking about going to see it.

I would have to leave home at about 5am though

That photo shows it at the Farnborough Air Show in 1990.

last time i saw that thing, it was at manchester airport, for operation: christmas child. y'know, make up a shoe box full of goodies, which all get collected and flown to far off places to be donated to orphans.

its a bloody massive thing. if you ever see the footage from about 1995 (ithink) you can see a teenage anhamgrimmar doing starjumps to keep warm. on national tv. oh the shame

That's one big plane that, no wonder it needs 6 engines to take off. What length runway does it need to get up enough speed?

Fairly standard runway actually. That big wing helps.
