Headlamp Bulb

Thinking of changing the headlight bulbs for some brighter ones can anyone reccomend a good make

I've got some PIAA bulbs in mine, they're brighter than the Phillips Vison plus ones (which are also good), but more expensive at 65 pounds for the pair of them.

you could just put some 80/100w bulbs in there! cost about £20 from most autofacters. yeah theyre illegal but lots of things are!lol!

Am i right in thinking the bulbs are removed by peeling off the glue stuff on the plate behind the light in the wheelarch?

soso does that glue stuff have a special name or is it just black silicone sealant?

Sikaflex 221
Its characteristics mean it survives in the automotive environment (heat vibration and all that) and its an adhesive as well as a sealant.

Aren't there issues with the wiring and/or control box terminals not being able to take the current?

The brighter Phillips and Osram bulbs don't draw any extra current so should be a safer route.

There are a couple of threads describing adding new relays into the circuit just to handle legal wattage bulbs!

true, ive put them in other cars before with no probs, but the cerb is always a different story!lol!

Yeah. Even slamming the door too hard can upset the electrics. Door speakers no longer work. I suspect the connectors in the door which may be a sign of impending failure due to corrosion. Speakers aren't a problem but door and window is another story.

You could, but several people on here have reported the connectors burning out due to current overload.
