Some of those Ferrari's are not what they are supposed to be. Ancient history now, but in 1968 I drove a GTB in the surfers paradise 12 hour race. The next day we tested one of the dealer team 327 race cars, stock standard, as they were then, to see if they would be entered in the 6 hour production car race, later in the year. The Monaro was 26 MPH slower than the Ferrari, down the streight, but 6 seconds quicker around the lap, & that was on XAS Michelin's not the green spot racing rubber on the Ferrari. They decided not to enter the Monaro's, as we were down to the steel belt on the tyres in just 46 miles. A private Monaro won the race, but they must have treated the tyres very gently. Having said that, the GT HO Falcons were just as bad.
