SCALEXTRIC WANTED

Weird post I know but the race track we were going to buy for our 3 & 5 year olds from ELC isn't going to be back in stock before xmas so I'm having a change of plans...

Any of you 'big kids' got a Scalextric set sitting doing nothing that I can find a good xmas home for two young children???

Or any advice on what to get would be appreciated...I know sod all about them other than mine used to fly off track at every bend 20 years ago and I haven't improved much with the real thing 20 years later

Loads on Ebay, new and used, also have a look at the Fly 917K's almost enough to make me buy a scalextric again !!

You've just reminded me of one of my favourite old toys. I had an Aurora AFX (American version of Scalextric, I think) when I was little. It came with a couple of either 917s or 956s (it was 20 years ago) with glow in the dark headlights for that realistic 3am on the Mulsanne Straight sensation. There might be a visit to the attic next time I visit my mum and dad...

Look what youve done now I just bought a fly 917K in Gulf Livery ! Now I need a track to run it on.

What I remember most about Scalextric was the smell - those under-body contact-bushings used to burn out pronto...;-)

soaked it, and nearly bought the fly model of it last night but decided I didnt want anything that could beat the gulf one !

Scalectrix is the only toy that my kids ( 19 and 22 years old) insist that we keep. A few years ago they pooled their track with three friends to build a monster circuit, the straight was over 20 yards long and the cars were maxing, we had a lot of engine and gear failures after that.

I had a lightblue 911 on my scalectrix - those were the days!
