Outrigger protection

While under my car, I’ve noticed the outriggers could do with a bit of attention. They have been previously waxoiled/undersealed, but in places this is starting to flake off. As a temporary measure I have removed the majority of the loose stuff with a screwdriver, and re-coated with waxoil and underseal. I am hoping this will protect them enough to get me through the winter (I drive the car daily).

In the spring I can then do the job properly, with por15 etc. However, the question is how do you clean/paint/protect the top, and the outside edge of the outriggers as getting to this seems very difficult due to the channel they are enclosed in?

the short answer is you cannot.

if it is any help I use WD40 and spraygrease, both available from halfords every month or so just for piece of mind to ensure that lubi stuff is getting to sit on the top of the chassis rails.

I made up a long hose with a nozzle on the end. This attached to my waxoil gun, I then run this allong the top of the tubes, pulled the trigger and slowly pulled it out, Hopefully this would have coated the outriggers!
