Ferrari Virgin
Discussion
Hello All,
I'm looking to take the plunge into the Ferrari world, but not sure whether to go for a used 360 or bite the bullet and get on the waiting list for a 430. Being new to Ferraris I was wondering what the PH Ferrari massif would describe as the main pros and cons. I don't mind waiting for a 430 if it is as good as a number of people have described to me. I have driven a 360, but not a 430 and feel you really need to drive a car for a little longer than a test drive to get a proper feel.
I know this is a bit of a generic question, but I'm looking to take a bit of a shortcut up the Ferrari learning curve with a little help from people who know a lot more than me!
Thanks in advance.
Bob

If by this you simply plan on wandering into your nearest Ferrari main dealer, slapping 5 grand on the desk and going home to wait until they call you to spec up your car........be prepared for between 2 and 3 years until your next showroom visit!
The alternative is to pay over list for someone else's choice of spec!
I put my deposit down in Nov 02, my car should be ready in the spring of next year! And it will be the 3rd new one I've bought from the same main dealer, who also does all my service work!
By all means, put your deposit down, but buy a 360 in the meantime! There are lots of bargains to be had at this time of year, see PH ads amongst others!
I've done over 6000 miles in my 360, and whilst I've enjoyed it, I haven't had the sense of occasion I get from my 355!
But lots of people have bought 360s and really love them, they are certainly much cheaper to run than the previous model, with the exception of their enormous appetite for rear tyres, 4000 miles in my case!

I am prepared to wait if I decide it is the car I want, dealer estimated late 2007 delivery. I am not prepared to pay over list, plus I would want to spec the car.
Buying a 360 in the meantime is another option, however, I don't feel the need to have a Ferrari immediately, just trying to establish if it is worth the wait and additional cash for a 430.
Bob
If you can afford the extra cash you should wait for the 430, enjoy the process of choosing your own spec, test a few cars at dealers pleasure and find out what is needed and what isnt. Buying a used 360 will expose yourself to the chance that dont get a car that has been looked after properly, and is free from gremlins, getting a new 430 will allow you to iron out any gremlins under warranty.

Are you referring to new cars or "slightly" used? Surely with the 2-3 year wait the more impatient customers are still paying over the odds?

New. Speak to Maranello's, plenty of cancelled orders. Someone on www . ferrarichat . co . uk spoke to a said dealer a couple of weeks ago and picked up the car on Friday
