Newlands Corner

Excellent conditions today for giving the Cerb some much needed exercise, took her out for a completely pointless 40 mile drive, roads not bad, sun has dried them out a bit, though she did wag her tail a couple of times when I pulled away a little more enthusiastically when she was nicely warmed up. Drove round some of my favourite Surrey roads between Dorking and Guildford, stopping at Newlands Corner for coffee and a bacon butty and occurred to me today that Newlands Corner would be a great impromptu meeting place for tasty motors, a kind of North Downs Ace Cafe! it has a large car park with refreshments, located on great roads, excellent views over the Downs and usually collects a large gathering of bikers and the occasional interesting car, Jaguar powered Cougar there today. Have seen the odd Ultima and Cobra there in the past.

How about it, Sunday afternoon meeting place for TVRs and other interesting cars in the area?

the A25 is a lovely road on the bike many people meet up there on bike and the road back to Dorking is twisty and exciting to ride(obviously slowing down through the villages)if i get my Tvr in the new year would love to pop up there in it.

it all depends onwether i get a company car or not, if i do then theres absolutly no point in keeping my CLK as it will be completly redundant so might as well get something a bit more fun!!!!!,was going to go for a Griff 4.3/500 at around the £15k mark, if i dont get a company car yet im getting my new Fireblade in the spring would be interesting to compare notes on car vs bike down that road thats if there isnt a load of sunday afternoon pensioners pottering around at 20 mph anyway must wreck the experiance in a car,overtakings a tad easier on 2 wheels though, but will let you know if and when i get a TVR

I've been going up to Newlands on a Sunday morning through most of the summer - some great bikes, not too many cars though! A freindly place - great food bacon and tomato rolls are highly recommended!

Newlands Corner is one of our favourite spots. I think it would be a great place to meet. Rykers, just outside Dorking, is another place for great bacon butties but tends to be full of bikers.

Great, sound like quite a few of you guys up for the idea, I think we should keep an eye on the weather forecast for this weekend and maybe pick a time that would suit most people this Sunday, providing its not torrential rain or snow! I'm thinking early afternoon would be best as it gets dark fairly early these days.

I would be up for that - now, do I take the direct route from Andover or take the scenic route via the A272 and A29 and cross country from Ockley - hmmmm, tough call that!!!

Ah Newlands Corner - many memories (happy mammories). I felt my first ever breasts up at Newlands Corner and also did cross-country runs over there when the rugby pitches were too soggy. Wonder if we went to the same school cheeky? Also very good for sledging in the days when we had snow.

Bit far to travel for me now though. William IV nearby is one of my favourite pubs anywhere.

Yep, some happy memories from Newlands Corner for me too - screaming down the hill on a sledge in the snow, beneath the stars...(few years apart obviously )

Just down the road from me so would be up for meeting up there for a hoon at some point. However, I am currently between TVRs

The photos of your cerb look like the flats near where I used to live ie off Epsom Rd in Guildford (up Albury Rd area).
