Battery

The battery on my 993 is finished. Any recomendations for a replacement. I have bought so many Porsche batteries over the years - there must be better ones around?

Well,

I'm probably the only guy who has one of these, but I like them a lot.

Banner 80A/hr 4 post calcium filled and WILL go through deep discharges without problem.

I just went to the garage because I forgot how long I'd left it before checking the charge, so dead the alarm wouldn't chirrup...lights all out everything, two hours of charge and bingo back in life again.

4 year warranty, completey sealed, all for £56.....can't see why anyone would buy anything else......well I can, mainly because I tend to be out on a limb with these things......

Previous threads on this question have always ended up recommending Bosch Silver batteries. Couldn't get one when I needed it so put in a big Fulmens, but presume that the Bosch is the way to go. You should be sorted for 50 quidish.

Recently enquired about a new bosh silver 75 Ah 720 crank whatsits. at the only place in Telford that sells Bosch stuff and it was £78.00

A place near by which sells Varta Blue silver calcium whith exactly the specs and size and composition etc etc looks almost exactly the same £68.00

Anyone know if Vata make the batteries for Bosch?

P.S. Banner were last year manking 42V systems for Audi. Love to see that when the AA want to jump start someone....

I've had a lot of experience in this area-the Bosch silver was the best but the key was buying one with a higher amperage(sic?) I recommend getting the highest amp output that the car will accept-this solved all of the numerous problems I had.

Kevin. How much was that if you don't mind me asking.

Just picked up the Bosh siler today I was wrong total price was £81

The on in my car at the mo is 64 AH which I think may be part of the problem(or I have a voltage drain) So I got the 75AH I dont think the 80Ah bosh will fit in the samll space I have.

Ps. I tried halwits and asked them to test it which turned out to be a bit above them. tried an Auto electricians 1st bloke said its ok second bloke said he could not get a reading

I agree. I got a Bosch silver from German & Swedish (run a search on gsfcarparts). IIRC I got one that was rated at 80+ Amperes. This is not actually listed as a 993 application but i just wnet in with the dimensions and asked them to find me the battery with the highest ampere rating for that size. i think it was about fifty notes.
