Hi All,
I have noticed an increase in Garda activity on speed checks over the last forthnight.
Are any of you using detectors in Ireland?

Yup, They're everywhere .

I'm on the road all day in Dublin, and while they peter out during the day due to traffic, they are everywhere at night. Between speed and tax checks, I'd say I go through one a night. About two weeks ago I went through 9 in the space of an hour!

And welcome aborad

yeah, theyre everywhere recently, tax and insurance checks are gettin a bit over the top, i think its funny watchin them all scratchin themselves, 6 coppers checkin tax at once has to be a great use of resources!

They deffinatly upped their presence after the last "gangland shooting" near the Yaght pub. It was about 4-5 nights after then that I was stopped so often.

Aren't detectors illegal in Ireland? I've brought over my V1 and never used it cos I thought so. Plus there's a mesh in my front windscreen too...

Wife got done by a van on the N7 Dublin to Naas for 83kmh for 50kmh.

You know that bit of straight dual carriageway with a large section limited at 50kmh (Why???).

No-one, and I mean no one take notice of the absurd 50 limitation, they set up a van and we received an automatic notice with picture of the plate and the speed.

I'd say they must have caught thouthands in an hour.

She decided to ignore the notice and not pay....Dunno if she will get away with that
