We've got two little bushes at either side of the front door. I've put some flashy white lights round one of them and it's made it look all nice and festivy, but not too O.T.T. Unfortunately, the second set of lights didn't work, so while the missus was out shopping, I asked her to get either another set of lights the same, or two cheap sets of small lights, so they both match.

She's come home with 24.5 meters worth of flashing multicoloured chaser lights.

She's now in a huff because I'll not put them round a small 2 ft high bush.

LOL, I came home tonight to see a ruddy great Xmas tree sitting on our balcony, adorned with 1000 lights it seems! (feel like bloody Clark Griswald! ) Am sure our meter dials are now spinning at 78rpm!

That's the trouble when you exaggerate how big 2" is

You have dials 39" across?

I laughed at metre spelled wrong, so I guess I'd better be consistent

To further commiserate with all the other chaps here....

My missus does the house up like Santa's Grotto. The amount of sparkling shite everywhere is staggering. The amount of glitter that ends up in the carpet is astonishing. And the amount I get criticised for not entering into the festive spirit is irritating.

I think most women are like magpies when it comes to Xmas - all the shops are full of sparkling crud that attracts them.

I don't mind some decorations. I don't even mind some lights outside. Bt last year we had three - count 'em - three christmas trees in the house. One in the hall, one in the sitting room, and even one in the gamesroom. This year, after a strop (her not me) I have secured a promise that none of this stuff will be hung up in the library, as the last thing I want to do is go for a quiet read (ie snooze) and be stressed by a large stuffed angel bouncing on a spring.

I'm not scrooge but ladies, come on, why does Christmas have to celebrated by filling your house with gaudy tat?

Reminds me of when I went to the chippy with my ex to get chips for 5 people. She goes in and orders 3 large bags of chips.

The people eating said chips would have no plates or cutlery so I innocently asked why she had not order 5 individual portions, bad mistake instant huff, tears the lot

Will I understand women? , will I

I almost called Crimestoppers a few years ago when driving home from work in the early hours. It was my first introduction to the 'having an effing great plastic Santa climbing up your house' vogue

It was probably not about the chips but about something you said 2 1/2 weeks before in passing and had fogotten about but she'd been brooding over ever since.

Either that or she was on the blob.
