Help please,doors not opening

Hi this has probably been asked hundreds of times but i went to get into my car and the door release didn't work so tried passenger but same prob(never had this before) ,i got in hidden way ,thought it might be the battery but it was fine.Just wondering where to start could it be something as sall as a fuse ? Help please thanks Jay

Have you checked the switches near the sill which operate the interior light?

..if they are not properly depressed (like I guess you are at the moment) the central locking won't work.

They seem ok its like theres no power going to them or something ?

There's a central locking relay, which I believe is behind the dash, rather than in the footwell. There is a 15a fuse in the footwell.

Just checked & the 15a fuse had gone , replaced it & the passenger door worked straight away but the drivers isn't , any idea what to do next ?

EXACTLY the same thing happened to my car! The reason your fuse blew is probably due to a fault with the opening mechanism of the drivers door. The first place I checked was the push switch on the mirror. If you remove your door speaker you will find two thin wires coming from the switch into a connector block. Disconnect this and test with a multimeter for connection. The pins should only be connected when the button is pressed.

Mine are connected permanently. This caused the door open actuator to remain active until it burned out, hence blowing the fuse. If your switch is OK, I would then check behind the velcro flap which is in line with the drivers seat (where all the lock gubbins are). You will find two actuators in here - one for the door lock and one for the door opener. The door opener is the one with two wires. Again, disconnect the connector plug and put a meter across the pins of the actuator. If it's ok, they should be connected. If it's blown there will be no connection.

A replacement mirror switch is £12 and an actuator is £27.

If neither the switch or actuator are faulty, you have a wiring fault which will need to be traced.

Ok thanks for that my mates coming round later with his meter, if parts need replacing do they have to come from tvr garage or car parts be brought elsewhere.Thanks J

If you need the solenoids they are available for a lot less than £27 from Maplin(£8/10 IIRC) depending on if you need the 2 wire or 5 wire version:

2 wire part No. YD79L
5 wire part No. YD78K

Looks like the actuator,got part from maplin today , job for the weekend , I'll confirm once done.Thanks for everyones help sofar .

Fitted mine last night and now all is OK. You need to remove the spring under the rubber protector. Do you get 12V across the two pins when you press the mirror button?

Just had same problem with both my doors. Went down to Maplin, bought the two solenoids for £8.90 each, fitted and done-35 mins work. So satisfying to know that a few quid and less than an hours work could fix such a major problem. Thanks to all who've put advice on this thread.
