Due to total ineptitude on my part, I have managed to puncture a perfectly good radiator. The axle stand which I had been using as a bonnet stay, and not remembered to move before I drove the car forward, has gone sraight through the rads brass bottom. The radiator came from a black cab, you know the London Taxi black cabs, and as such I would imagine that it will be difficult to replace, well there are no black cabs in any of the scrapyards local to me. Does anyone know of a replacement for this radiator? The car is a Pheaeton S3 and is powered by a 2 litre Ford Pinto. The obvious answer I supose would be a MK1 or 2 escort rad, but their as rare as hens teeth now, and brand new ones are pricey. I'm not sure of the Seirra's radiator would fit, any suggestions? I would prefer tried and tested set ups but any suggestions considered.

Depending on how bad the damage is - i.e. if it's just hole rather than a seriously bent radiator - you could probably repair it simply by soldering a piece of brass sheet over the affected area. Ideally you need around 1/8 inch or more of flat around the hole for the solder to hold on to.

If it looks possible, best source for small bits of brass is likely to be your local model shop as the model steam train crowd use them.

VW Polo rads are popular among other cars of this type .. may be worth a look?
