Reading the "Earring" thread has just reminded me of some of the utter crap i used to wear whilst younger!

Some of the photos i look at when i was around 17/18 and the casual waistcoats with collarless shirts and jeans just makes me cringe!!

Coupled with the very short leather jacket i used to have and shaved head with tuft-on-front-haircut, it makes me laugh and cry at the same time!

Still, not as bad as wearing jeans halfway around your arse with budget boxers showing a la some people today!

Anybody equally embarrassed looking back?

Many years ago, I fancied myself as a bit of a casual. Went into Liverpool to buy some new gear (thinking stuff like Kappa, LeShark, Lacoste, and that magical time when Farah slacks were in, etc). Got stopped by some lads for a spot of the old casuals tax (a lovely, non-threatening euphamism for mugging of a 'share' of your shopping) and was humiliated when they wouldn't take anything because it was all sh1t. Still, they had a point. I looked like I'd been dressed by a p1ssed, colour-blind badger.

Drainpipe jeans, hot pants and high waisted trousers, the more buttons the better.

With the white piping down the side..... can't believe I wore those.

Not to mention the really bad perm that went with it all.

My pair of brogues that were spray painted Ford Escort flourescent green, used to wear them with flourescent orange socks. Then I got all weird and used to dress in black all over like Gary Numan, in fact, I thought I was Gary Numan.

Hmmm... on the right backside they are. Somehow I don't see many guys getting wood for, say, Hattie Jacques in hotties.

Yes, I know she's been dead for generations...

I was into the northern soul scene and bought some oxford bags, for the younger members these were trousers with 36 inch circumferance of material in each leg and a waist band which was just under the chest. I caught sight of myself in a window walking through Doncaster one evening in a light wind with the legs billowing behind me like a pair of sheets. Never wore them again.
But didn't really learn my lesson as to being a fashion victim, the Kevin Kegan perm followed afterwards, my wedding photographs are so dated.

In a similar "I though I was...." vein, I once had a cream suit and wore a black polar-neck under it in the early 90s, and my hair was down to my shoulders.

Any guesses?

(Points off for saying "Twat"....)
