GT2 going T350 staying!
Discussion
Have had my T350 up for sale only on here for quite a while with hardly any interest. It was offered with a new TVR 2 yr warranty at £32,000, which in my eyes considering the spec and the price of the warranty was a reasonable price.
The car was one of only 2 made with a 3.6 genuine 400BHP engine (£4,000 extra) the other being Chrisof's in Germany. The car has only done 13,000 miles and had a complete engine rebuild by Paul at the factory where it was balanced and blueprinted to the original spec. At the same time it had a complete factory respray for stone chips and petrol spillage stain which should have been over £5,000 but cost half, it is better now than when new.
I bought some 19" wheels/tyres at £3,000 and the stereo that was installed while the car was being built is mega! So as I said the price reflecting all this was not silly as you cannot buy another car to this spec anywhere.
I decided to sell as I was not using the car and I was paying a lot of money in tax, as it is my company car. Then the other day I took it for a run (1st time in months) and realised what a great car it is and have decided not to give it away instead I have just bought a sports exhaust for it and I will buy it out of the company. So the GT2 is going instead and I will lose 3 times more than the TVR yet believe it or not the T350 is far more fun to drive and even sit in! So the one on the left is going....

A good choice I reckon. But this thread is sure to bring the closet porsche fans out of the woodwork in defence of the GT2 as is so tediously often the case!
As mentioned before GT2's depreciate like lead balloons because I guess most people think the standard turbo is fast enough and they look virtually identical, oh and it's much safer with jolly sensible four wheel drive etc. Typical Porsche wussy behaviour! The standard turbo is nowhere near fast enough as clearly you know!
I appreciate the spec of your t350 is very desirable but imo the interior colour was less so. It's a pretty bold choice, and yes shouldn't a supercar be lairy and shocking and over the top but if there was a line the interior of your car crossed it!
It must be a riot to drive though and even as a Sagaris owner I don't mind admitting that your car would probably have the edge in a straight line (it's a bit lighter isn't it?).

As you can guess, I have my reasons of asking:
How can a 3.6 make 400bhp?
Cheers,
Paul

My car left a fellow Pistonheads Tamora for dead as he has posted in the past, it also has no problem in passing Nobles on the straight at Oulton Park. I have never driven a Sagaris but I would think it would be similar to my old Red Rose Tuscan which was not as quick as my T350.

The Porsche is brill extremely quick very reliable and drives spot on. The T350 is as quick up to 100mph (the GT2 has been chipped and has a sports exhaust) not very reliable and drives great. The Porsche is a bit dull to drive, inside it looks very spartan and BLACK whereas the T350 always puts a smile on my face when driven.
One thing that I always say in comparing the two is that most TVR owners put up with the faults and niggles cos the car is so much fun, most Porsche owners that had 20% of these problems with their cars would complain from the highest tree and get shut of the car......IMHO

Most Porsche owners are old, fat and have comb-overs. Here's the proof!
You have to be old to buy one because it takes you a while to get that far up the career ladder.
You get fat from all the business lunches.
You start combing over your bald patch because you think it will help you get a younger mistress.
You love the tip-tronic because 'it's like manual when you want it and auto in London' but yours is always left in 'D'.
You had a VW Golf, you always wanted a Maserati quattroporte but never got one but you did dabble with a Chimaera which overheated on the way back from watching Wasps at Twickenham. So naturally it was traded in for an M3. A super motor car but of course everyone you know had one and you're an individual so you got a Boxster which was too slow so you traded it in for the 911, just like everyone else.
You now of course realise that the eggy looks have gone off a bit that the 997 is much nicer than your dumpy old 996 despite looking exactly the same. You still have no idea why it's a bad idea to put the engine in the back or where the hell the famous Porsche residuals have gone!
You'd secretly love an F40 because although it would impress your squash partner when the turbos cut in, you know your mistress will hate it, will be looking for the stereo and wonder why they've made the dashboard out of postman's trousers. She'll dump you for someone in a Bentley continental GT as soon as possible.
Oooh, that feels much better!

Where's the 'smiley playing the violin' icon when I want one?
You'd think a sun reader would be more interested in flying the flag?
I might be crazy but there's a chance you'll find more pro-Porsche stuff over on a Porsche forum.
By the way my own brother is a Porsche owner and I love him dearly but he has absolutely no taste and his car looks like an egg as a result. Oh, and he's done very well in finance.
I do think Porsche's enviable success has a lot to do with sheep mentality. But I also understand why people buy them and I respect them but I think 'ze styling department should be shot at vunz' for being sooooooo flipping boring and conservative. Typically german they work well but are a bit dull for something that's supposed to be a dream car. Hey, I like the Carrera GT does that count?

I can't believe I'm been drawn in to this, but here goes.
I’m not interested in reading pro Porsche stuff on this forum, the sun news paper or your bothers career choice either.
I commented that I liked the blokes 350, but for some reason this makes you go off on one about Porsche buyers and Porsches in general.
Why do you have to act like a 5 five year old? Your over reactionary comments make you look immature and angry.
Grow up, stop acting like a child, it’s very boring and I can’t be bothered with it

I think most Porsches are great, except for the cayman, even the Boxster which has the unfair reputation of being a Poor mans 997 is great in my opineon.
I think if you were to say to someone you had a Porsche, you would have more credit than someone with a TVR (without seeing the two side by side), however, being a T350 driver i believe that the T350 would take most Porsches apart for head turning.
I put my 4.5 Cerb in for the T350 and it was exactly the same as jumping from my 206cc or my Dads C70 into the cerbera, I mean alot more people actually stop, stair, stick thier thumbs up, flash their lights, beep their horns etc than they did in the cerb.
Dont get me wrong i think Porsches get their fair share of looks the same as the Cerb did, Im certainly not trying 2 make it sound like a boring 3 series, but the T350 is just eye popping in comparison, it looks so different from any other Make of cars, when i picked the car up from Henleys and parked it in the services, the light was hitting the Spectraflair silver paint perfect and it looked amazing, i returned from a toilet break and there was 7 people standing there admiring and discussing it, 2 of which were well over 70
bit strange i thought giving the eye popping looks.

I've always loved the looks of the 350, it's the best looking one out of the bunch without being too over the top imo(by TVR standards anyway).Met. Black with gunmetal wheels looks so mean and cool
Yeah, Porsche's are bland compared to most TVR's and certainly the Sagaris style wise, but I don't want loads of attention, it's one of the things I didn't like about my Tamora.
Every one hears you coming anyway and looks round to see what all the fuss is about, then you pull into view and everyone’s looking at you, took a mate out to demo the car last summer and he loved it as we rumbled through the city centre with the roof panel off, I'd rather keep a low profile in the 911
I used to like going through the tunnels though, sounded amazing
Horses for courses etc
