Hi everybody.
I've been in contact with the Hotel regarding next years Growl. They can accomodate us on any of the first three weekends in August. July is already full.
Anybody with any suggestions for other venues, please speak up, likewise, anybody that wants to do anything different or differently, please speak up now.
Anybody wanting to take on the organising for next year, or wanting to include some other feature, we're all ears. If nobody says anything to the contrary, You'll get pretty much the same as last year, if that's OK. If you want to help, or do anything to develope the event, don't be shy.
I had a go last year, and if anybody would like to take on the Growl for 2006, just say.
I open it to the floor.

MrsAntonyJ wants to know the ins and outs of the weekend, any chance of a quick run down.
Hopefully it will be the weekend 12th-13th 'cause we are on holiday the weekend before.
So where is it?

I thought the growl was very good this year,and certainly wouldn't change the location.It was very central,plenty of parking space,and the hotel itself was a good standard for this type of event.My only gripe(like so many)was the bbq,but i'm sure this will be better next time.If you're wondering what could be added,then perhaps some entertainment or disco in the evening?I'd be happy to pay a bit more for this of course.

1) Also as has been mentioned I think the hotel could have at least put out tables and chairs for the BBQ. That's my only complaint about the hotel but a serious one.
2) Something could be arranged to help break the ice between people as it was difficult getting to know people. (I'll put my thinking hat on)

I had some drive outs from Gaydon which is pretty close but only a few people had them. Also I did a drive out on the Sunday for an hour or so.
If more T shirts were ordered then more people woould stand out - this is a difficult one other than people walking around with banners. It is up to individuals to talk to people and I know this isn't generally human nature. I know a fair few now after the first 2 Growls.
Maybe we circulate a list of cars/reg's prior to the event or you could speak to the organiser if you want to find a specific person.

fwiw I thought the Growl was excellent (apart from some bloke from the West Country who followed me and the Mrs round all weekend :P ). If I can I will volunteer some time to help organise next year (diary/things permitting!!)
In terms of ideas..
- We arrived Friday night and went into Stratford for beer and curry (mmmm...curry!!) and would welcome a list of other Friday nighters - if nothing else to share the taxi cost!!
- More trade stalls/stands please - Leven would have done masses of business I reckon!!
- Tables and chairs at the BBQ (and food eh BB??)
- Organised runs out at certain times. We noticed that cars started to line up for presumably what were runs out (run outs??) however we were reticent to enquire in case they were exclusive (I know it sounds strange but we were new to all of this)

Lorraine, my other half, would prefer if it was all on the Saturday. How does this sound?
Agree with Mrs FFG re shirts, I'll be doing them again for next year, hopefully the same price, ordering details as before, but there will be a change to the logo.
Trade stands is something that we can all badger traders to come, and yet again, I'd prefer FREE, ie no cost to either Growlers or Traders. I'd personally also prefer no raffle, but that's just me.
Re the Barbq, I'm talking to the Hotel about that, and the Wedgers have had a good idea, which we should hopefully be combining our negotiating muscle on.
Keep those comments coming.

) but they were sat on their own and didn't really know anyone as it was their first TVRCC event. I was thinking of perhaps - (dependent on getting some tables and chairs 
) - we could do a TVR/Griff/general car related Pub-Quiz type thing, better still if there were a few prizes on offer (like a free pint?) and it involved a bit of shouting and talking etc. to break the ice! Just an idea. Rich...mongoose said:

I agree, the venue was perfect IMO.

You organised a great event this year - hope next year's (2006) is just as good and even better attended.
Keep the event to one day - althoug the hotel do the accomodation for the same deal on Friday evening : so those there on Friday should get in touch .. wear a growl or TVR shirt soon identifies you..
