Video Camera Connected to XP - play blurred in Movie Maker

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem?

A work colleague here has a video camera connected via Firewire to his laptop.

In any editing type application (eg Movie Maker), the picture is blurred when previewing?

Sound is fine.

Any ideas?

Guessing here, but look at the video drivers and possibly the DirectX version...
