Why does the passenger seat go further back!!

Why does the passenger seat go further back than the drivers.
I know there are spacers under the drivers seat at the front to tilt it,do you think this is causing the rear of the seat to bed into the rear carpet sooner than the passengers side?
I am 6'4 and would appreciate the extra leg room.

On ours, the drivers seat stopped neatly just far enough back to stop it hitting the CD changer mounted behind the drivers seat. Coincidence, maybe dunno? Like you said the passenger seat went further back.

I guess they are all different then. My drivers seat keeps going until it hits the rear bulkhead and pins the seatbelt to said bulkhead preventing it from working. I have to remember to inch it forward 1 click so the seatbelt works.

On mine the seat bottom stops about an inch short of the rear bulkhead with the backrest fully forward. You cant lean the seat back enough to actually sit in it (well unless you are the hunchback of Notre Dame) with the seat right back on its runners. Now im wondering if mine has been the subject of some tinkering in the past. Roll on the next warmish day so I can have a proper look....

Not unknown, Austec pointed out to me at the last service that the passenger side floor had actually been lowered by an inch, so as to lower the passenger seat. Since the original owner was female I guess her other half was a bit on the lanky side

Hello Chimaera owners, thought I'd come and have a nosey around in your forum

The seats have a nut and bolt at the back of one the runners (well, some have, some don't, you know how it is) which is there to stop you shoving the seat back into the seatbelt. You should be able to slide the seat forward enough to see it.
I think you would have to take the seats out to get at it but thats a simple job and just a matter of undoing 4 nuts so if its bothering you that much pull the seat out and have a look. I honestly dont know how much legroom you would gain by doing this though.

I'm 6'3" and found more leg room in a Griffith. The Chimaera transmission tunnel obstructed my left knee.

One option is to relocate the seat. I removed the spacers on mine as the car was set up for a shorter driver than I. When you take out the spacer, you'll find the holes in the floor no longer match the bolts in the seat. I drilled two new holes and plugged the old ones. I now have plenty of room. Another option is to 'wind in' the pedals away from you as they are adjustable.
