HI all,
In the process of having a look at the engine, when I came across a stroker kit for the 3.5 from Rimmers. Are they any good?

So does that use the original bore dimension of 88.90mm for the 3.5 - what capacity does that result in?

It ends in a 3.9

If youre going to buy the kit from Rimmers, the extra £120 for the increased capacity seems money well spent. Before you go that route though check out the prices of the Partsrange (RPi's eBay shop) build yourself short engines for not much more.
eg a 3.5 kit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Range-Rover-V8-3-5Lt-Short-eng

or a 3.9 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-V8-3-9-Engine-build

plus you have a spare block that you can rebuild as a spare over time, or sit on for a while, as they're going up in value becasue you cant get new...i've three blocks already that im stockpiling for that reason...plus I'm greedy!!

Iain

Yeah, but a long-stroke 3.9, so maybe torque-ier (izzat a word?) and less revvy than an NCK motor?

why dont you have a go yourself? buy a 3.9 from ebay and just recon it, there only going for around £250 £200 for pistons and £120 for a new ground crank and shells?

I enquired about stroking my 400, the kit for 4.3 or 4.8 was £1400, Yikes!

That's really quite reasonable, albeit it a lot of money. Turbochargers are an alternative.

Hmm, 480SX, sounds interesting, don't you think, Gun Metal?

Now to find a gearbox that can take 450lbf...

Surely easier to drop in a better more modern V8? LS1 etc etc

Don't you think people might shy away come try and sell it time? At least an RV8 is in keeping?

Ive got a spare 3.9 all the main bits i.e. block, pistons, crank, sump, and heads.

Any ideas how much to get reconditioned, looking at this thread we are talking about 400 quid for pistons, crank and main bearings...? is that right? I want to eventually replace my 3.5.

Cheers

Doug

Lsx would be really hard to fit into a wedge. Stroker kit is one option as is a vortech type blower. Space in the engine bay is really tight. A front mounted turbo may work as well but as said, spoace is tight.
