Ok, heres one thats confusing me. Parking at my local school is a challenge in the morning, made worse by a 'special' who picks on some individuals but not others. One of her favourites is a side road with no marked lines on the road but a stretch of kerb by a hedge has for no apparent reason two sets of double vertical yellow marks on the kerb. This is a residential street , marks are one side of the road which has a grass verge , pavement then a hedge. according to the highway code:

'Yellow marks on the kerb or at the edge of the carriageway indicate that loading or unloading is prohibited at the times shown on the nearby black and white plates. You may stop while passengers board or alight. If no days are indicated on the signs the restrictions are in force every day including Sundays and Bank Holidays.'

I dont think there are any plates ( I need to have a careful look theres nothing obvious) and to be honest these marks do look a bit like Mr concerned resident has been at it with his paintbrush. But the special insists we dont stop there, park or anything else or quote ' I'll give you a ticket' - while ignoring all the other cars parked on the corner, kerb etc.

So if there isnt a plate are these restrictions invalid ? and who do I phone to find out if these are real markings or just something a local has put up ?

Cheers

Dodsy

Edited to add: I found the council website for road markings and theres a question link , so thats answered one of the points !
