hi guys,
after many hours messing about with elephant ears and roof seals, i have finally cured my car leaking. after torrential downpour tonight, i went in my car to find no swimming pools behind my seats. bone dry.
now let me tell you the cure:
1)its nothing to do with the elephant ears (although im sure they help to an extent
2)nothing to do with the seals on the hard targa top
3)i found the cure when i replaced the long rubber seal which is attached to the fold down rear section of the roof (the one that presses against the windows when they are up.
the most important thing is to leave some excess length so that it presses against the doors(when shut) and the rubber seal which runs along the sills. my old seal was cut too short, hence water coming through the doors.
hope this bit of info helps others.

Useful info, cheers. I have done the elephant ears thing, and have used several gallons of Water-Seal on the hood (these cleared the puddles in the rear footwells, but ultimately, I traced my worst leak to the rubber seal on the driver's side of the targa panel.
It did not quite extend to cover the top of the polished aluminium window frame, and water was finding its way down into the footwell at the leading edge of the door.
I have replaced both seals at a cost of £9.
I may take your advice and replace the seal on the drop-top too.
