Millenium Dome
Olympics
Congestion charging - why ffs
"Safety" cameras
Fuel tax
NHS "Management" - more "managers" than nurses/doctors/cleaners, more budget and overall care dropping year on year
Schools - continual fiddling with stats rather than concentrating on teaching, hence why "everyone" now passes GCSE's at A or above, there are no "failures", lowest common denominator
Police "red tape" - again more backroom staff than front-line
IRAQ
Climate change - what a load of ARSE!

CSA - now theres a great one to go for, infact any of the governments IT solutions inevitably fail and cost more - air traffic control is another example

- The sure start scheme. After spending £3bn of taxpayers money over 5 years an independant study concluded that 'Sure Start' had zero impact on child development in the areas that it was tried.

Labours response......... proceed to triple the number of sure start schemes at a further cost of £15bn to me and you.

As much as I hate to admit it the Millenium Dome and 'safety' cameras were instigated by the Tories.

CC is a London Mayoral policy (not to do with Labour)

And just the whole two-faced, double-dealing, mendacious
manipulating, egregious shower of odious small-minded
incompetent fraudsters that are New Labour.

That should get you past the starters.

For the main course, I'd suggest a general discourse on
the failure of international and domestic Socialism.
That should get her into a nice pickle.

For desert, ask her in detail about the voting shift
in her constituency at the last election, and how
that trend would play out at the next (by) election.

There is a saying that it is impolite to talk politics at the dinner table.

If she's your dad's friend if I were you I would leave her in peace.

Yes indeed, a dinner table with friends and family is not the place to have heated political discussions, we have PH's for that

The BIG issue is the economy and stalled growth .....

caused by :

1. massive increase in public sector spending - WHERE IT DOESN'T ADD VALUE.e.g: more civil servants.

2. massive tax increases - corporate and personal

3. PSBR has ballooned because increases in 2. haven't matched 1. ( corporate tax take is below plan as growth has stalled )

4. because PSBR has grown - Gordon has decided with a wave of his "magic wand" that the "economic cycle" is now 12 years , rather than 7 (to meet EU targets we need to get Govt borrowing down over the "cycle" - so as we are borowing more than we should ..... we have just extended the cycle.

5. Totally uncontrolled immigration into the UK - current rate is 800,000 gross , 500,000 net : the issue is that we have been getting in large numbers of people who are a drain on the State and don't contribute to UK plc -( massive immigration is fine as long as you get the skills you need , but thats not how its been working )

5. massive, pernicious and arrogant interference in just about every aspect of personal life ... the Labour s can just right off in my opinion

The Dome was a Tory idea but thats as far it really got - the actual implimentation and vision was down to Labour - does anyone remember that creep, Lord Falconer in a meeting telling people what children wanted from the Dome, including picking the colour of the cusions! He overruled all the professionals about what made a good attraction because "he knew better".

Safety cameras may of been introduced by the Tories - but they've been done to death by Labour. Up until the late 90s only 40,000 SPx0s per annum were being issued. It is now 1.4m SPx0s per annum.

Don't forget the scandalous way they mismanaged the foot and mouth outbreak. There's also the recent FUBB over the flu jabs.

Sorry - though this thread was going to go down another path and was going to suggest a few drops of Optrex in her drink when she nipped off to the bog.

Well in that case….

I would concentrate first on hypocrisy.

Labour made a great deal about encouraging people to save for their retirement and then taxed pension funds £5bn a year and introduced a means tested benefit for pensioners which means that all those on low incomes are better off not saving for their retirement.

Just ask her WHY she is entitled to an inflation-proofed final salary pension funded by you the tax payer ......... while most private sector workers will never get one ..... while still paying out for the ones in the public sector

....... just HOW is that consistent with the New Labour values of equality and fairness ??
