So PetrolTed: what were the very first posts on the Gassing Station (back in the mists of time), and who were the first posters?

I can imagine it was something along the lines of:

PetrolTed: test

PetrolTed:

test
Excellent, that works

PetrolTed: Hello...... hello. Anyone else there?

It was some time before I introduced a forum on the site. The TVRCC and Cerbera lists were very active at the time (when PH focused purely on TVR).

The first Gassing Station was a FrontPage discussion web thing. Crude but worked.

I may even have an archive of it on my PC somewhere. I'll have a rummage when I retrieve it from storage.

Same as me; I must have found it in July 2000 but didn't have the opportunity to regularly browse the Internet until last year.

My first post is still there!

mungo said: Ted, what year did it all start off? I think I found the site about mid to late summer in 1999.

Started with intent in beginning of 1999.

Made the change to PistonHeads.com later in 1999 (to ensure a unique name before anyone asks).

The earliest topic I can find that I posted was Feb 2001, in the Chimaera forum - there's only about 10 topics archived before that....

Yep can remember, I still think its a credit to this forum that it holds members for so long. Had and still having great discussions for so many years.

That's about when I started. I was searching around for information on the Esprit at the time. Lurked on the Forums, but didn't post until I had made my purchase and posted the Esprit in My Cars. Ted saw it and commented, the rest was history...

...Outstanding site here. Feels more like a community than anywhere else on the web. I feel like if I were to visit France I could call Thom right up. Ditto with Mungo (not sure if the wife would approve ), McNab and others of I were in the UK. This site is what others only aspire to be...

Cheers and Great Job Ted

You are very welcome Ernest!
Too bad I don't have so much time to spend in here anymore...

How is the Esprit, by the way?
What about the X-type? Last time I read about you you had ordered one, hadn't you?

Cheers Ernest

edited to ask: where has our Great McNab gone??
