Things to do in Cardiff
Discussion
The Marriott is the nicest hotel, although it's fun to find their car park......
Most of the pubs and clubs are in one main street/area, which makes a fun pub crawl.
There are a large selection of eating places in a small square just off this main street (at the side of Hard Rock) - I can recommend the Thai there!
There is also the castle, and a few others in the area worth looking around if you like that kind of thing......

Take a trip down to Cardiff bay, looks great and has some nice bars.
Nearer to the stadium, go for a pint in Dempsey's Irish bar, usually a good atmosphere on match days, have a wander around the arcades and check out the covered market.
IMO the castle isn't up to much, unless you're into war memorabila as there's a museum of it. I'd take a walk in the park and look at it from the outside, much better. The park is massive and has some nice paths through it running by the river.
If you like church stuff then take a trip to Llandaff cathedral (North of the main park), quite impressive I guess.
Enjoy the atmosphere in town, on match days the city comes alive and it's almost always friendly.

Puke on Caroline Street.
Highly recommended...
Champers, Le Monde or The Brasserie on St Mary Street for food.
Just about anywhere for drinks, loads of bars have opened since I lived there, the Philharmonic (opposite the above restaurants) always used to be lively but last time I went back it looked positively sedate.

If you will pay a hairy Turk a quid for your dinner then what do you expect?
There's a new bar in the city centre called the Yard. It's the flagship of the Brains brewery bars and is good for a pint or two but on match days (as with most other places) it can take 20 mins to queue up at the bar.
What kind of place do you like to drink/eat/club? Let me know and I'll try and work out a suitable night for you.
Jury's Hotel does some stunning deals on rooms for rugby matches, but get in there quick. The Ibis City Centre is very good, great bathrooms for shall we say, 'naughtiness' with girlies.
Nearly all the city centre pubs have been revamped in the last two years; another vote for the Yard, but a 20 minute waiting time at the bar doesn't help. If none of your group smoke, try The Cottage on St Mary's Street - it's smoke free so is the least busy pub!
For more cultural stuff, try Caerphilly Castle (the largest in Wales & better than Cardiff), or go down a real coal mine (100 feet underground) at Blaenavon. Cardiff Bay very good for excellent restaurants and comedy clubs.
The Le Monde/Champers/Brassarie combo I think is a little tired and over priced now with the new competition down the bay. And don;t get me started on Benedicto's!

Dunno, went to Champers a couple of months back, still a great steak and a great format.
(Mother has been going there for 30 years though and knows a lot of people in there which could have an impact I suppose)
Caerphilly Castle as Wanty has mentioned is very nice, its tower leans 4" more than the leaning tower of Pisa dont you know...
Castell Coch however, on the A470 just out of Cardiff is beautiful, if not a real castle...

I will ask the girlfriend! I can imagine she would probably say things that involve shopping mind
The only things i can think of are visiting Cardiff Castle, shopping, visiting the Millenium Stadium (but you're already doing that!), and then visiting Cardiff Bay and visiting the millenium centre. Its really nice down there, especially if you want to go for a drink etc providing the weather is decent of course! otherwise i could imagine it would be hell down in the bay.

Plotloss said:Just the ceremony - it worked out really well as you can only actually invite a couple of dozen guests so can be as selective as you want, then have a knees up in a local hotel or pub. We had Roast Beef Dinner and several pints at the Cedar Tree in Caerphilly!
Just the ceremony or the whole shebang?
